Lilypond USA is a Colorado-based company specializing in developing and selling specialty women’s bags, backpacks, and luggage. Their inaugural line was launched in July of 2009. This project discusses changes and refinements to their existing products through verbiage and visual edits, proposes marketing and development strategies with a product development plan developed, discusses and develops branding in the development of a new identity system as well as through branding copy and imagery. Visually Sound: An Exploration of Design + Music, is a book comprised of a series of works exploring the relationship of design and music. There are four compositions which are inspired by four different songs: “Wake Up” by Arcade Fire, “Chicago Zoo” by The Cool Kids, “Reptilia” by The Strokes, and “Sleepyhead” by Passion Pit. Within the book are the lyrics to each song, and my thoughts on my ideas behind each of the four designs.

In this senior paper I wanted to work on marketing a chair through different angles of design. These angles include logo design, photography, packaging design and a few advertising works to go along. I felt that the broad parts of this project would help in creating a portfolio piece that I have designed from the ground up. Every city/place has unique, distinctive qualities. Individuals acquire a sense of place in accordance with their own experiences and perspectives, which may not be the same as the experiences and viewpoints of another person. In this project, I explore, analyze, and re-interpret three places that have creatively and emotionally influenced me and remained in my memory: Times Square, New York City; Insadong, Seoul, South Korea; and Broad Street, Richmond, Virginia. Culminating with a dream, this project transverses theoretical and geographical boundaries with explorations into the message-carrying potential of video, sound, performance, print, and web. Stories and content are extracted from an autobiographical history of one small western town turned boomtown. That town, the center from which the project emerges, is Vernal, Utah.
