This collection consists of research materials and the personal and professional papers of historian Richard Orr Curry. The collection spans the years 1952-1983, with the bulk of material from the 1970s and early 1980s. The research material in Series 1 on West Virginia statehood, the Civil War, and Reconstruction are all copies, transcripts, and photoduplicates. The only original letters and papers are contained in Box 1, Folder 3, as described below in the finding aid. This collection consists of a portfolio bound, fold out genealogical table of English rulers from Egbert to Victoria on nine folded paper panels. Elaborately decorated with pen and ink lettering and colored coats of arms and flags, the lineage breaks down by epoch and line such as Saxon, Danish, Saxon Line Restored, and Norman, etc. The inside of the portfolio reads “Mrs. Ed. J. Greenwalt, City”.

Unsigned speech on agriculture by Albert Gallatin Jenkins and items relating to daughter Margaret comprise most of the collection. Includes photographs of General Jenkins and the Homestead at Greenbottom, West Virginia, a letter from Margaret Jenkins to the students of the Upper Greenbottom School (1934) and also newspaper clippings about the controversial use of the home site by the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources.

The Robert Gilchrist family papers consist primarily of correspondence from three major, related families--the Andersons, the Wilsons, and the Gilchrists. Included among the correspondence are news clippings, diaries, journals and scrapbooks. Several books part of the collection pertain to Lebanon, Ohio and the Little Miami Railroad. The material contained in the Anderson family papers is correspondence of Isaac Anderson and his children. There are several folders of Joseph Anderson's letters to his wife, Jane Gilchrist Anderson, and Joseph' s personal business documents. The Wilson family papers are concentrated on Joseph Wilson's and Mary Wilson Gilchrist's legal actions concerning the administration …
