The song of the congregation is a devotional form of musical art. The singing, to be sure, is not that of mechanical perfection; there is not to be found the delicate nuances of the artist; but when the entire congregation lifts its heart and voice in the praise and adoration of almighty God, the loving Father, there is a spiritual quality in the music that makes the hymns a magnificent setting for the preaching of God's word.
