Background. This article is one of the least studied topics in Uzbek literature and is devoted to the study of critical skills. "We” are taking a nap, but she’s the only one sleeping. The canvas shade above our heads and the subtle breeze off the water make the 95-degree heat tolerable. The gentle rocking of the houseboat lulls us both into a trance.
Manuscripts, Murder, And A Miniseries: A Personal Essay, Richard E. Turley Jr.
Manuscripts, Murder, And A Miniseries: A Personal Essay, Richard E. Turley Jr.
BYU Studies Quarterly
On March 3, 2021, a three-part miniseries on the Mark Hofmann forgery-murder case of the 1980s premiered on Netflix, a popular subscription-based streaming service. The three-part miniseries, titled Murder among the Mormons, quickly catapulted into the top echelon of most-watched Netflix programs in the United States.1 Because I appeared in the miniseries, many people began asking me questions about this criminal case I have followed since it first attracted widespread public attention.

"So, was there anything you just couldn’t find there?” I asked the newly returned missionary. He had been home from Guatemala for a few months, and I would be leaving for the same country soon.
He looked puzzled at my question and thought for several seconds before answering. “Balloons,” he said.
My Stepdad Was A Bank Robber, Billy Wilson
My Stepdad Was A Bank Robber, Billy Wilson
BYU Studies Quarterly
I remember standing on the back porch of our rental in Meadow Vista, California—the steady gurgles of a running creek in the backyard, the faint smell of dry firewood in the cardboard box behind me. Dad (the con- tract killer, not the bank robber) wore a tank top and jeans with the pant legs cut into very short shorts. He was six foot two, an anomaly in our lineage of shorter men. I don’t recall him ever yelling at me, and he was naturally amicable, but he did raise his voice on occasion and could crack granite with his eyes. …

On November 21, 1993, the world dozed in watery light and I felt off-balance as the northern hemisphere listed away from the sun. Seasonal blues made watching PBS all day seem like a reasonable choice. Onscreen, a Ford Lincoln Continental zipped through Zapruder’s frame. Tomorrow would be the thirtieth anniversary. Old news footage aired to commemorate the assassination, and I watched as if America’s end of innocence were happening live along with my own. Seeing Jackie statuesque in bloodied nylons, I mourned like I’d discovered the thirty-fifth president was my long-lost grandfather. I was thirteen and had never heard of …
This study looks at vulnerability in its full complexity through an analysis at the interstice of sociology and rhetoric of the book Genealogie d'une banalite by Sinzo Aanza. The inhabitants of the poor neighbourhood of the Bronx decide to overcome their misery by digging under their dwellings, in search of copper to sell to the Chinese. This access to money brings them to relish in certain pleasures. The characters live in an enclosed environment that, through the instability of their representation, becomes the space of multiple enigmas: social, sexual and emotional. These characters provoke a condensation of meaning leading to …

Good Grief, Sarah Hafen D'Evegnee

Having happily served a mission myself, I was convinced that the only tears I would shed when I said goodbye to my oldest son would be tears of maternal joy. However, as his departure date loomed larger on the calendar, the metal harness of time strapped me in, and I felt nauseous as I anticipated the whoosh of the release of air just before being whisked straight upward and then plummeted to certain death—the thrill and the terror of knowing that I had not only signed up for this ride, but I had waited in line and I was the …
A Preparatory Redemption: Reading Alma 12–13, Charles Harrell
A Preparatory Redemption: Reading Alma 12–13, Charles Harrell
BYU Studies Quarterly
A Preparatory Redemption: Reading Alma 12–13 is a collection of essays written by eight scholars as part of the summer 2016 Mormon Theology Seminar, hosted by the Maxwell Institute, to explore the theological significance of Alma’s sermon to the people of Ammonihah, in Alma 12:19–13:20. Few passages of scripture have intrigued me over the years as much as these, so I personally looked forward with great anticipation for this volume to be released.
Mary Whitmer And Moroni, Robert T. Pack
Mary Whitmer And Moroni, Robert T. Pack
BYU Studies Quarterly
In June 1829, the Peter Whitmer family welcomed Joseph and Emma Smith and Oliver Cowdery to board at their home in Fayette, New York. They had been brought up from Pennsylvania so that Joseph and Oliver could continue the translation and dictation of the Book of Mormon from the golden plates without persecution. The Whitmer family was then living in a small rural log home bursting at the seams with their large family. These three new visitors placed an additional burden upon the mother, Mary Whitmer, who was responsible for their care. Shortly after their arrival, a “strange person” visited …

I heard the rumors.
Something was going around at school. Also at church. They said it attacks like lightning and leaves you feeling like a grenade exploded inside your body. The one mercy of the ordeal is that it lasts for only twenty-four hours.

The Common Good Frankenstein Textual Analysis And Argument Essay, Julia G. Bonfiglio
Line by Line: A Journal of Beginning Student Writing
My writing process for this particular essay was fairly simple and straightforward. I began by reading the prompt and writing notes on my teacher's specific directions. I then went to the library, where I reviewed my notes and the directions. Next, I began to write a brief rough draft which I later printed and gave to my teacher for review. Finally, I took all of her suggestions for improvement into consideration and completed my essay.
