At first, it was a blur, that had shrouded a great mystery for ages and ages, until some seventy odd years ago. Then came Thomas Graham, who could not satisfy himself with merely viewing a blur as a blur. Being a scientist, he applied his mind experimentally, with the keen precision of any of the eminent astronomers using a telescope, and viewed more clearly this mist which hovered above the horizon . In this thesis I have undertaken to compare the autobiographies of men whose lives were unlike in many respects but alike in this, that though they sought definitely to flee away from God, the heart hunger in their beings allowed them to rest until they returned to His loving embrace. In Francis Thompson's Hound of Heaven and in St. Augustine's Confessions, I shall attempt to find two men who found God after treading devious paths away from Him

Democratic principles as pronounced from the preamble of the constitution of the United States of America should have been the grounds sufficient for prohibiting the development of forces which eventually led to written end unwritten legislation for a cross section of the population.
