Labouring Men: Love, Sex And Strife , Mike Donaldson

Studies of masculinity and studies of class are incomplete unless they take each other seriously. This article explores the interrelations between class situation and experience, paid work, the family-household, masculinity and male heterosexuality as they are borne and reproduced by labouring men. Against the psycho¬logisation of the 'men's liberationists' this article insists on the salience of structure. It suggests that the working class, of which labouring men are a small part, can be understood in its strategic power and weaknesses only through the study of the whole lives of its members, changing and changed by each other as they stand …

Headache is a common symptom in primary care about which surprisingly little is known. Over a 14-month period 3847 patients making 4940 consecutive visits for headache to 38 primary care practices in the USA and Canada were studied. The clinical characteristics of patients, as well as the diagnostic and therapeutic strategies employed by their doctors, were examined. Visits for headache represented 1.5% of all visits during this period. Most patients (72.0%) made only one visit, and nearly half of the headaches reported were new. The following "Reminiscences of Illawarra" initially appeared in the Illawarra Mercury between 17 April and 18 August 1894 in 24 parts, each part usually dealing with a separate aspect of the very early history of Illawarra, and more specifically with the early development of the township of Wollongong.This book is one of a continuing series to be published as aids to the study of local history in Illawarra. This article attempts to define ephemera for archivists and librarians; looks at the methods o f dealing with ephemera previously employed by both groups; suggests that instead o f undergoing off-hand destruction, ephemera be considered a necessary part o f a comprehensive archival collection; and, finally, proposes a simple system for gaining physical and intellectual control over ephemera in an Archives, based on methods employed by the University o f New South Wales Archives.

Jon Cockburn exhibited, in conjunction with works by expatriate Australian Artist Gerry Weise, at the Australian Embassy, 4 rue Jean Rey, Paris, France between the 25 September to 30 October 1987 in an exhibition entitled by Gerry Weise ‘Rituel Commun + Common Ritual’. The exhibition was listed in French art journal Art Press and gained other print media publicity (two further exhibitions of works by Cockburn and Weise using the title ‘Rituel Commun + Common Ritual’ also took place over the following months at privately run galleries in Reims and Toulouse).
