Politicalidad Pentecostal: Derechos Humanos Latinos Y Complicidad Con El Poder, David Luckey Phd
Apuntes: Reflexiones teológicas desde el margen hispano
The early Pentecostal movement was characterized by social boundary crossing that challenged the church and society. Today, a growing number of Latinx theologian-scholars of Pentecostalism are foremost representatives of outspoken witness. They employ an emancipative hermeneutic that calls the contemporary Pentecostal community to holistic engagement and forcefully addresses corrupt power structures. This prophetic tradition, however, is being distorted by Samuel Rodríguez and the NHCLC through the denial of the human rights of Latinx immigrants and Muslims. Rodríguez is an outspoken advocate for Donald Trump’s dehumanizing immigration policies and the incarceration of migrant children at the U.S. borders. He is also …

Hay muchas dimensiones de los procesos de migrar y de acomodarse a otro país que se pueden tratar. Una de las más fundamentales es la religiosa. Después de recalcar su importancia, este ensayo explica cómo la Biblia puede ser un recurso de orientación para el inmigrante: allí encuentra historias que hacen eco de sus experiencias y le animan a perseverar, confiando en la soberanía de Dios. Aún, los inmigrantes pueden aportar nuevas apreciaciones a la lectura bíblica. El ensayo presenta el primer capítulo de Daniel como un caso de prueba.

The Lives Of Clements Hall, Thomas Park

Clements Hall has occupied a central place on Southern Methodist University’s campus, both physically and socially, since the campus’ inception in 1915. Initially a women’s dormitory, it was later used by men after the construction of the Virginia and Snider dormitories. It included a dining space, a kitchen, and apartments for President Hyer and his family. In its time as a residential building, it housed engineering students, the football team, and briefly members of the Navy V-12 program. After complaints in the late 1950s, plans were made to renovate the building for use as classrooms and administrative space, offering services …

The Latitudinarian Influence On Early English Liberalism, Amanda Oh
SMU Journal of Undergraduate Research
This paper takes the unexpected position that early liberal thought developed in transformative events within the Anglican Church during the second half of the seventeenth century. The historical evolution of religion laid the foundation of English political and intellectual philosophy, as supported by works written by the branch of Anglican churchmen known as the Latitudinarians. I will argue that these ministers were foremost in advancing the argument for religious toleration because their religious writings held political consequence. Toleration was the principle value of liberalism in the late seventeenth century because the problem of Dissenters was so pertinent to English religious …

Immigration is one of the biggest civil and human rights issues of our time. Global migration patterns reveal today that one out of every 35 people around the world (200 million; larger than Brazil or the fifth largest nation in the world) live in a region other than their homeland, while one of every seven persons residing in the United States is foreign born. Today, the total immigrant population living in the United States equals 47 million persons and undocumented immigrants represent nearly 12 million among them. Power plants production, load, financials and environmental impact from power plants in the United States is publicly available either from the Energy Information Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency or Lazard among others. The general public is interested in US energy production and its potential environmental impact but the available information is complex and difficult to properly understand and not shared in ways that are accessible. Our objective was to gather this data and create different interactive visualizations that make it consumable.
