A Study Of Public Speaking Abilities Of Lds Youth, Robert W. West
A Study Of Public Speaking Abilities Of Lds Youth, Robert W. West
Theses and Dissertations
This study deals with public speaking among teenagers. It is the sincere hope of the writer that this thesis may challenge young people and help motivate them to become better speakers. If it does this then it is partly successful. It may point out some weaknesses and habits in their own style of speaking that are handicaps rather than assets. It may also show some of the strong points of teenage public speaking in general, the writer hopes it will help young speakers want to overcome the trifles of poor speech habits to make their speaking nearer perfection.

A Proposed Program For Adjusting The Released-Time Seminary Program Of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints To Three Major Flexible Scheduling Programs, Wallace Dea Montague
Theses and Dissertations
Whenever a public school modifies its scheduling program it has a direct effect upon any released-time program affiliated with the school. This study was undertaken, therefore, to determine the adjustment necessary in the released-time seminary program of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in order to make that program compatible with three major flexible scheduling programs: (1) the Period Exchange of Rotating Period Program as used in the Cedar City High School, Cedar City, Utah, (2) the Modular Schedule as typified by the Stanford School Scheduling System (SSSS) and used in Roy High School, Roy, Utah, and (3) …
Sources Of The American And Swiss Constitutions In Ancient Greek Political Thought, Thomas C. Gelzer
Sources Of The American And Swiss Constitutions In Ancient Greek Political Thought, Thomas C. Gelzer
Swiss American Historical Society Newsletter
Looking for a suitable subject for the Swiss-American Historical Society within the reach of a classicist, I found the question of the Ancient Greek Sources in the American Constitution. Although not a historian, I thought that would mean treating matters of historical significance as well as of unbroken continuance of the effects of classical thinking. In addition to that the Constitution is one of the living connections which links the mighty United States of America with the tiny Swiss Confederation. But, big or small, both nations have drawn continuously vital forces from the order of life which is shaped by …
Factors In The Acceptance And Adoption Of Family Home Evening In The Lds Church: A Study Of Planned Change, Robert Ernest Larson
Factors In The Acceptance And Adoption Of Family Home Evening In The Lds Church: A Study Of Planned Change, Robert Ernest Larson
Theses and Dissertations
In an effort to cope with forces which would remove the home from its place of influence, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently inaugurated the Family Home Evening Program. Emerging out of a fifty year history of efforts to institute the home evening practice, it is one of the most systematic and comprehensive efforts to date to implement change within the structure of its member families.
Such a deliberate and predetermined effort toward improving the family system constitutes what applied social scientists call "planned change." Home evening, when adopted, has many of the elements of a behavior …

A Course Of Study For The Lds Indian Seminary Program Of Northern America For Junior High School Students, Eldred Bruce Preece
A Course Of Study For The Lds Indian Seminary Program Of Northern America For Junior High School Students, Eldred Bruce Preece
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of writing this teacher's manual was to provide a course of study for the junior high school Indian Seminary students living mainly in Northern climes of North America. In more recent years, a greater emphasis by the Church has been placed on preaching the Gospel to Northern Indian tribes, as evidenced by the organization of the Northern Indian Mission in 1964. With the conversion of hundreds of Lamanites, came also the need to provide religious education and character development for the children of these new converts and for the children of older Church members. Many non-LDS students, with …

The Effect Of Increased Teacher Knowledge Of Student Characteristics On Student Attitudes And Achievement, Sherman D. Harward
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to study the effects of increased teacher knowledge of students' individual characteristics on students' religious attitudes and achievement in Seminary. It was based upon the rationale that when teachers have more knowledge of each student's characteristics, they can be more effective in planning for individual needs.
