Documentary Editing: Journal of the Association for Documentary Editing (1979-2011)

At its November 14, 2000, meeting, the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) recommended grants totaling up to $3.8 million for 47 projects. The Commission described competition for funding as "fierce," with requests under consideration at this meeting exceeding $8 million. While reaffirmning its support for the Founding Era documentary editions, the Commission noted a substantial increase in the number and quality of grant proposals in the State Board and Electronic Records Programs. The major finding of this project is that through the use of multiple sign systems, monolingual teachers can support their bilingual students. These strategies employ the use of comprehensible input from the teacher, peer interaction, extended lanuage and activities for the students whose primary focus is to help the students make connections from the text to their own lives.

Early in 1960, after having graduated from Cornell and while writing V., Thomas Pynchon moved to Seattle and began working for the Boeing Airplane Company. What Pynchon did while working at Boeing has puzzled scholars almost from the moment of the very private author's literary debut. When we try to delve into his stint at Boeing first mentioned by Lewis Nichols and Dick Schaap--we reach dead ends or find conflicting information.
