One of the Michigan Upper Peninsula’s earliest industries was iron production. Iron furnaces (smelters) were part of that industry; these were primarily fueled by charcoal, produced in hundreds of charcoal kilns scattered across the Upper Peninsula. The four basic kiln designs (rectangular, round, conical, and beehive) were all used in the region, with the beehive design becoming the predominant form. James C. Cameron, Jr. is credited with developing the beehive charcoal kiln design while employed by Upper Peninsula iron furnaces. Butler Journal of Undergraduate Research

This research introduces a sophisticated transfer learning model based on Google’s MobileNetV2 for breast cancer tumor classification into normal, benign, and malignant categories, utilizing a dataset of 1576 ultrasound images (265 normal, 891 benign, 420 malignant). The model achieves an accuracy of 0.82, precision of 0.83, recall of 0.81, ROC-AUC of 0.94, PR-AUC of 0.88, and MCC of 0.74. It examines image intensity distributions and misclassification errors, offering improvements for future applications. Addressing dataset imbalances, the study ensures a generalizable model. The viral replicative form double strand RNA (dsRNA) is a unique feature to the plant RNA viruses that used for non-specific detection of plant viruses. For decades; fibrous cellulose -11 (CF11) was used for dsRNA purification, but recently was no-more produced. Other fibrous celluloses (CF-A; -B; -C; -D; and –E) were suggested as alternatives to CF11. This study was to evaluate the applicability and reproducibility of using CF-D with two different dsRNA extracting methods: micro-spin column and modified Dodds extraction methods. The chicks were randomly divided into four experimental trials. The leaves extracted suspension was added at 0, 3, 5 and 7 ml/liter to drinking water, and the following characteristics were studied: live body weight before slaughter and the weight of the carcass , dressing rate, the relative weights of the main and secondary carcass parts, and the relative weights of the eating giblets.

Given the impact of COVID-19 on healthcare workers, our institution identified the need for wellness interventions to foster adaptive functioning and mitigate burnout. The purpose of this pilot project was to assess the feasibility of virtual holistic interventions like meditation, art, laughter therapy and dance and their impact on overall well-being of physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs).

There is a discrepancy between the mutation rate we can measure today and the rate at which evolution is supposed to have proceeded. The former is sometimes called the genealogical mutation rate, for it is obtained by comparing individuals whom we know to be related. The latter is sometimes called the phylogenetic mutation rate. It is calculated by counting the fixed differences between two species and dividing by the estimated time since their common ancestor.
