Das Andere Christentum Zur Transkonfessionellen Verflechtungsgeschichte Von Äthiopischer Orthodoxie Und Europäischem Protestantismus, Stanislau Paulau
Ebooks
As early as 1534 an Ethiopian monk traveled to Wittenberg to get in touch with Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon. The theological dialogue that resulted from this marked the beginning of a history of entanglement between Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity and European Protestantism. The present work for the first time reveals the history of the diverse interactions between these previously separately examined variants of Christianity in the period from the 16th to the early 20th century and thus makes a fundamental contribution to the history of global Christianity. Methodically, the work ties in with the approach of the histoire croisée and …

Sacred Journeys In The Counter-Reformation: Long-Distance Pilgrimage In Northwest Europe, Elizabeth Caroline Tingle
Sacred Journeys In The Counter-Reformation: Long-Distance Pilgrimage In Northwest Europe, Elizabeth Caroline Tingle
Research in Medieval and Early Modern Culture
Sacred Journeys in the Counter-Reformation examines long-distance pilgrimages to ancient, international shrines in northwestern Europe in the two centuries after Luther. In this region in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, saints' cults and pilgrimage were frequently contested, more so than in the Mediterranean world. France, the Low Countries and the British Isles were places of disputation and hostility between Protestant and Catholic; sacred landscapes and journeys came under attack and in some regions, were outlawed by the state. Taking as case studies hugely popular medieval shrines such as Compostela, Rocamadour, the Mont Saint-Michel and Lough Derg, the impact of Protestant …

Hee Won Choi, "A Study Of Granville Oral Roberts’S Whole Person Healing Mission/그랜빌 오랄 로버츠(Granville Oral Roberts)의 전인치유선교 연구," Phd Dissertation, Juan International University, (In Korean), Hee Won Choi
Books and Other Holy Spirit Artifacts
A thesis written in Korean for PhD in Intercultural Studies at Juan International University in South Korea.
English Abstract:
The thesis proposes Whole-Person healing mission as an effective for pastoral ministry and mission to respond to the challenge of the ineffective evangelistic mission as the critical hindrance to Christian ministry and mission. The study argues that the whole-person healing mission and evangelization of Granville Oral Roberts(1918-2009) through revival meetings, broadcasting, education, and medical service in the twentieth century would serve as a new theological breakthrough. His whole-person healing mission became a significant ideological foundation of holistic mission, faith mission, mission …

Pope Innocent Viii (1484-1492) And The Summis Desiderantes Affectibus, Maral Deyrmenjian
Malleus Maleficarum
The papal bull (or decree) Summis desiderantes affectibus, issued in 1484 by Pope Innocent VIII (1484-1492), specifically addressed the malign presence of witches and witchcraft in the Holy Roman Empire and authorized a formal inquisition into their activities. It was one of several official condemnations of heretics and other enemies of Christendom, both groups and individuals, issued during Innocent VII’s reign.
Heinrich Kramer, the primary author of the Malleus maleficarum (1486/7) prefaced the second edition of his witch-hunting manual with the Summis desiderantes affectibus without explicit permission; scholars argue that he considered it likely to bolster the work’s authority …

Faith Matters: Reflections On The Christian Life, Kerry S. Walters
Faith Matters: Reflections On The Christian Life, Kerry S. Walters
Gettysburg College Faculty Books
In a day in which Christians too often reduce faith to mere sentimentality and atheists decry it as superstitious nonsense, Fr. Kerry Walters offers a series of reflections intended to show that, indeed, faith matters. Drawn from his popular weekly newspaper column “Faith Matters,” these short meditations explore Christian faith from the perspectives of doctrine, spirituality, ethics, politics, art and science, the saints, and the holy seasons that mark the Christian year and set the rhythm of Christian living.
