The City of Midland is proposing to install a new 12-inch (in; 30.5-centimeter [cm]) water pipeline at the Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) located south of the intersection of IH 20 and Farm-to-Market (FM) 307 on the east side of the City of Midland in Midland County, Texas (Figure 1-1). This report summarizes the results of archeological and historical investigations for the Old Pecos Cemetery in Pecos City, Reeves County, Texas. Colgate Energy plans to purchase the area around the cemetery and construct oil and gas facilities on that property. The Old Pecos Cemetery contains graves interred from 1881 to around 1910. It occupies an area of about 0.33 acres and is known to contain many unmarked burials. Colgate Energy hired AmaTerra in August 2017 to investigate outside the fenced limits of the cemetery, to determine whether any unmarked graves are located outside it, and if so, determine the extent …

A ground-penetrating radar (GPR) investigation was conducted by members of the Archeology Division of the Texas Historical Commission at the Alamo Mission in San Antonio, Texas on December 2, 2015. The purpose of the survey was to determine whether GPR is a suitable technology for mapping subsurface features on the site in advance of future archeological investigations or development. Nine separate GPR grids were surveyed to provide a broad sample of the areas that may retain buried historical features. The General Land Office of Texas owns and manages the Alamo. East Expansion Project, in Grimes County, Texas was performed by Ed Baxter Consulting in April, May, June and July of 2017. Edward P. Baxter was the Principal Investigator and the Project Archaeologist. The survey took a total of ten man days in the field. On June 27, 2017, TxDOT conducted an intensive archeological survey for the proposed bridge replacement at FM 108 at Sandies Creek in Gonzales County, Texas. This proposed project would replace the existing 25 –foot-wide bridge with an approximately 45 foot-wide bridge. The total area of potential effects (APE) for the two bridge replacements is approximately 3.7 acres. No new ROW or easements are proposed for the project. Although the schematic design plans show only fill being added to the existing ground surface of the roadway approaches, depth of impact for the support pilings is estimated at approximately 50 feet.

In May 2017, AmaTerra Environmental, Inc. (AmaTerra) conducted an archeological resource survey of a proposed deep borehole drill site in Pecos County, Texas. The project area was located on University of Texas land and included a 12,700-foot access road to be regraded, three potential powerline extensions measuring 6,000 to 6,500 feet each, and a 320-acre circular buffer zone surrounding the borehole, 20 rectangular acres of which were to be utilized as a lease area by the Department of Energy for the drill site. The total area surveyed for the project was 414 acres.

Murphree Wildlife Management Area (WMA) portion of the Port Arthur Pipeline Project (PAPL), located in Jefferson County, southeastern Texas. On November 6, 2017 TxDOT archeologists conducted an intensive archeological survey under Texas Antiquities Permit Number 8212 for the proposed widening of the east/west segment of State Highway (SH) 165 located within the Texas State Cemetery in Austin in Travis County, Texas. The Texas State Cemetery has been previously determined eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places and is also recorded as a Texas State Antiquities Landmark. The cemetery has been previously recorded as the archeological site, 41TV1700.
