Review Of: Spanish Grammar And Spanish Reading Comprehension Cd Roms, Shaw N. Gynan

Modern & Classical Languages

Spanish Grammar and Spanish Reading Comprehension were tested on a Macintosh G4 400 MHz, 1024 x 768 display, 128 MB RAM, Apple CD/DVD. Both programs are designed for use by high school, college, and adult education students. Installation on the Mac is a very simple matter of inserting the disk and double-clicking on the icon that appears, which invokes the program. The screen goes black, meaning that the main Apple navigation bar is no longer available, and a window appears in the upper left hand corner of the screen displaying a menu with two options, Spanish Grammar and Comprehensive Spanish …

On the first day of class, the teacher startled the young boy by taking each child's slate and smearing the first two letters of the Hebrew alphabet—aleph and beys—on it in honey. His grandfather's first lesson consisted of eating the letters off the slate. The symbolism of this act is complex, Berman muses, but central to the ritual is the belief that what is real must be taken into oneself, ingested: …

Using A Civil Procedure Exam Question To Teach Persuasion, Sophie M. Sparrow Dec 2001

Using A Civil Procedure Exam Question To Teach Persuasion, Sophie M. Sparrow

Law Faculty Scholarship

Studies show that learners master new material more effectively when it builds upon what they already know. By revisiting assignments from a previous semester, students can focus their efforts on persuading, rather than learning new doctrine or facts. Turning a predictive discussion into a persuasive argument demonstrates that making an argument requires the same rigorous thinking as predicting a result. One way to do this is to assign students to write an argument based on their fall Civil Procedure exam.
