The Tectonic Evaluation And Design Implementation Of 3d Printing Technology In Architecture, Robert Buttrick
The Tectonic Evaluation And Design Implementation Of 3d Printing Technology In Architecture, Robert Buttrick
Masters Theses
This design thesis is an assessment of the tectonic capabilities and applications of large format 3D printing, given the current available and practiced technologies. This review consists of an analysis of the technical specifications and limitations of the various forms and methods of 3D printing at all scales, followed by an in-depth analysis of technologies that have been adopted and employed at an architectural scale. A number of case studies are assessed to create a typology of tectonic types created by employing 3D printing technologies. These tectonic types: Holistic/Homogenous, Complementary/Integrative, Structural, and Sculptural are then tested to see how they …
An Analysis Of Construction Estimating Software, Guilianna M. Lozano
An Analysis Of Construction Estimating Software, Guilianna M. Lozano
Construction Management
There are various components that go into building a construction project. And regardless of the size of the project, construction projects have become increasingly expensive with cost escalations on the rise. The cost element of each construction project is critical to the success of the overall project. In today’s current industry, numerous resources are available that strive to assist the built environment with managing construction costs. Currently, construction firms are maintaining a competitive edge by using the technology that has been made available. The basis of this research, conducted using a quantitative survey, was to provide data that indicated which …
Electrochromic Windows: Return On Investment Analysis, Thomas Michael Caprio
Electrochromic Windows: Return On Investment Analysis, Thomas Michael Caprio
Construction Management
In recent years, sustainability in construction has become a topic of undeniable interest. With sustainability certifications becoming more prominent and desirable, members of the construction industry have begun to seek alternatives for standard systems to keep up with market trends. One of the main issues that the construction industry faces is accessibility of technology. While there are new products and technologies being released frequently, members of the construction industry lack knowledge on the specific details and implications of working with newer systems. One piece of technology that was recently introduced is electrochromic glass, or smart glass. Electrochromic windows analyze sunlight …
Prefabrication And The Labor Shortage On The Central Coast, Brenden Ryan Napier
Prefabrication And The Labor Shortage On The Central Coast, Brenden Ryan Napier
Construction Management
The labor shortage has affected every aspect of construction all over California, however the central coast has been hit especially hard. The central coast’s location between the two major developmental hubs presents challenges such as relocating employees and finding skilled craftsman. One potential method that has been shown to increase productivity and cut costs is to prefabricate. Prefabrication can improve working conditions and increase worker safety while streamlining schedule and reducing environmental impact. While these benefits are certainly possible in larger cities that have the manufacturing grunt, this paper aims to understand if prefabrication is a viable way to alleviate …
Speculations On A City For Mars, Edouard Terzis
Speculations On A City For Mars, Edouard Terzis
School of Architecture - Theses
This thesis proposes the reinterpretation of architectural forms as the index of the constitution of the idea of the city. “Speculations on a City on Mars” is paradoxical in a sense as it superposes both the managerial representation of a city, that is Zoning, along with the speculative aspect of an extra-terrestrial city.
