This research discusses the fundamentals and obstacles of the religious and cultural tourism development in Hadhramout Governorate, as one of the most important types of tourism. The aim of this study was to determine the basic requirements needed by this type of tourism through studying the elements of developing the religious and cultural tourism in Tarim City. The city was chosen because of its famous palaces, castles, and historical forts.
