Books about Rollins College and Winter Park
The Rollins College campus has long been recognized as one of the most beautiful in America. Bordered by a picturesque lake and punctuated by majestic oaks and pines, it would be difficult to think of a more idyllic spot to engage in the pursuit of higher learning. Just as Rollins’ founders sought to bring to the Florida frontier the high-quality education of the New England colleges and universities of the late 19th century, they constructed the school’s first buildings in the same New England style. It was not until Rollins’ visionary eighth president, Hamilton Holt, that the College established its …

Project Reports
Like waterfronts and transit stops, parks leverage value in urban areas. While much recent attention has been given to the signature mega-park, the value of the small-scale neighborhood park in reinventing the city has been overlooked. Once connecting neighborhoods of differing character, and sponsoring more than 80 residential structures along its edges, the historic MacArthur Park at the edge of downtown Little Rock is radically underutilized as an urban neighborhood asset. Severed from its neighborhoods along two edges by interstate construction in the 1960s, this moribund 40-acre municipal park is left with only 16 residential structures along its frontage. The …

A zoning district requirement specifying a masonry enclosure for the two street walls created an opportunity to respond directly to the Puck Building, one of New York’s most recognizable masonry buildings. We then focused the idea on the reinterpretation of local laws and regulations with a contemporary response to masonry construction and detailing that doesn’t attempt to imitate the past.
