The decline of art education in our school systems is potentially robbing today’s youth of the opportunity for creative expres­sion. Without this outlet for personal expression, the student population stands to lose an educational experience that is no less important than academics, such as mathematics and sci­ence. The Union Wadding Artist Complex seeks to provide an environment for students in and around Pawtucket, Rhode Island to create and hone their artistic skills in a peer-driven and uninhibited setting. The Woonasquatucket River Environmental Discovery Center (WREDC) is a place where students of the environment can enjoy a natural space within their own community. It provides a much needed connection to a site which, for far too long has been off limits to the community. The historic city of Providence was split after the construction of I-95, leaving the west side of the city separated and in some cases abandoned from downtown. The bioremediation training facility consists ofaseries ofeducational bUildings including laboratories , libraries, an auditorium, classrooms, greenhouses and garden social spaces for students to learn about ecological systems. The facility runs adjacent to aseries ofold built infrastructures, like the Blackstone River Dam, drawing aparrallel to how people use these systems with the function of the ecological ones within the bUilding. The parrallels between these two types ofsystems will bring new definitions to one's environmental conditions in the city.

This project is to design an Aquarium building both for the public and for researchers. There will be connections to the ocean visibly for the public and physically by docks and piers for the researchers. The building needs to tie into the landscape visually and will be using as many sustainable techniques as possible to support the building. A building that teaches how to save and preserve this planet should help the cause by creating its own power.
