The costs of obtaining and maintaining ISO certification are high. Moreover, studies have shown mixed results on the benefits of the certification. Consequently, the objective of this research was to verify whether or not companies do value maintaining the ISO 9000 certification.

The empirical study was conducted on 41 U.S. companies that were first certified in 2000. The companies formed an existing database as they were used by Dr. Arbuckle in 2004 in his doctoral dissertation. Of the 41 companies, 12 were found to be out of business, leaving a final sample size of 29. Data were gathered from this …

It is important to understand the different types of house museums and their purposes before we offer information about our own house museum.

There are three basic types of house museums: Documentary, Representative, Decorative. Each type has its purpose and distinct interpretive thrust.

Having very little information about the Felts family, it is impossible to present our museum as the documentary Felts House. A much more realistic interpretive goal is as a representative 1815 Log House. When making application for a Carnegie Library grant, proponents added letters of support. These letters often described their communities in great detail, providing information about the city's population, the area' cultural and educational institutions, and the dynamics of local government. Writers took this work quite seriously, and some eloquently requested that the "King of Steel" provide funding for a library in their community. This article presents information about the letter writing campaign from Middlesboro, Kentucky, a small town in the southeastern portion of the Commonwealth. * The du Pont family is large, and recurring names and nicknames often make it difficult to follow who’s who. The Lammot family is woven together with the du Pont family in a complicated thread, especially since Margaretta was a favorite name. General correspondence regarding Western Kentucky University. Incoming letters are mainly addressed to Henry Hardin Cherry. Responses are made by Cherry and occasionally by faculty and staff. The president's secretary Mattie McLean is the writer for some of the letters signed by Cherry.

Some of Cherry's personal papers are also found in this series most notably those pertaining to his political aspirations and two candidacies for the Kentucky governorship. Copies of outgoing correspondence begin to appear in Box 1, Folder 50.
