Student Self-Grading Form, Brett Whysel
Student Self-Grading Form, Brett Whysel
Open Educational Resources
This is a word document that students use at the beginning, midpoint, and end of a semester to set relevant goals, measure progress towards goals, and self-grade. It is intended to build motivation, metacognition, and accountability. Instructors may use it on its own or to supplement other assessment tools, and improve the accuracy, validity, and fairness of final grades.
Artist’S Tools: Reverse-Engineering Of Prototypes, Mi Tsung Chang
Artist’S Tools: Reverse-Engineering Of Prototypes, Mi Tsung Chang
Open Educational Resources
Outputting the digital blueprint into a final fast prototype is important, but inputting a hand-made sculpture into the computer is as important in the creative process. There are many high-tech electronic devices that can help the artist generate form from his/her sculpture quickly. This process is called “reverse engineering of prototypes.” Touch Probes (Contact Method) The concept of the touch probe involves a measuring tip attached by several limbs with rotational joints. The design of the joints and limbs determines the reach of the touch probe. The measuring tip of the touch probe is used to measure the exact coordinates …

This is a syllabus designed to work as a "frame" that you can use and populate together with students. The goal is to provide a perspective from environmental psychology.
Urban Politics And Policy, Susanna F. Schaller
Urban Politics And Policy, Susanna F. Schaller
Open Educational Resources
This class will focus on urban politics and policies as they relate to the economic, social and spatial development of metropolitan areas. We we will ask why cities and place matter and explore patterns of urban spatial development in the US. We will investigate the politics and policies that have led to “urban sprawl” and uneven development, particularly in post World War II period. We will discuss the social, economic, political implications of this form of development, focusing especially on the politics of race and class. By inserting cities, especially NYC, into the global context, we will read about neoliberal …

Mapping In The Humanities: Gis Lessons For Poets, Historians, And Scientists, Emily W. Fairey
Open Educational Resources
User-friendly Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is the common thread of this collection of presentations, and activities with full lesson plans. The first section of the site contains an overview of cartography, the art of creating maps, and then looks at historical mapping platforms like Hypercities and Donald Rumsey Historical Mapping Project. In the next section Google Earth Desktop Pro is introduced, with lessons and activities on the basics of GE such as pins, paths, and kml files, as well as a more complex activity on "georeferencing" an historic map over Google Earth imagery. The final section deals with ARCGIS Online …

Introduction To Architecture, Arch 1101, Course Outline, Michael Duddy
Introduction To Architecture, Arch 1101, Course Outline, Michael Duddy
Open Educational Resources
The Introduction to Architecture provides a foundation for students entering the BArch / BTech program to develop a “visual literacy” of the built environment. Using New York City as a living laboratory, students explore concepts of design, composition, and construction in the context of the city through their direct experience of buildings. By practicing the basic skills of drafting, sketching, and reading about buildings, and with the opportunity to present their understandings to others through written assignments and verbal presentations, students will develop methods of representing and presenting architecture verbally and graphically.
