The essence of a library is the bookstack, tier upon tier of self-supporting shelves with long slits of windows lighting narrow aisles. Dedication program for the WKU Health & Physical Education Building which is now the Helm-Cravens Library building. The building was designed by Brinton Davis and cost $250,000 to build. The gymnasium could hold up to 5,000 people for which purpose it was used until the completion of Diddle Arena in 1963.
