Every year, millions of people visit parks and preserves and in the process, learn about the natural and cultural resources of these areas. These resources typically include, but are not limited to, unique features of geology, hydrology, wildlife, vegetation, and historical and prehistorical influences. Many of these resources may be fragile, which is often the reason for park or preserve establishment, and therefore vulnerable to the impacts created through uncontrolled visitor use.
