Cultural Resources Survey And Fema Section 106 Condition Survey Of The Jacksonville State University Main Campus, Stacey L. Griffin
Histories, Biographies & Miscellanea
This architectural and condition survey of JSU's main campus (Survey PA-04-AL-4632-PW-00065) was prepared for the Federal Emergency Management Agency Environmental Planning & Historic Preservation section by Panamerican Consultants, a part of the Commonwealth Heritage Group, at the request of the Alabama Historic Commission. The impetus for the survey was the demolition of Alumni House and the former Merrill Hall, both damaged by the EF-3 tornado that struck JSU's campus March 19, 2018.
The report contains historical contextual information (e.g., campus growth from 1883-present), an architectural survey of all relevant buildings, and findings and recommendations regarding Angle Hall (formerly Bibb Graves …

Mp765: Creating The Orono Bog Boardwalk: A Facility For Education, Research, And Recreation, Ronald B. Davis
Miscellaneous Publications
A memoir by Dr. Ronald Davis detailing the creation of the Orono Bog Boardwalk. The Orono Bog Boardwalk is a premier destination in the Bangor/Orono area for persons wishing to experience the beauty and fascinating plants and animals of a Maine bog. The 1-mile boardwalk loop trail begins at the forested wetland edge in the Bangor City Forest, and after 800 feet crosses the Orono town line into the portion of the Orono Bog owned by the University of Maine. The Final Report
This book places the excavation of the northeast insulae at Hippos of the Decapolis, into its historical context, summarizes the archaeological findings, and posits that the site was an urban monastery centered around a healing cult that grew from the veneration of a revered woman and became a monastic infirmary also employing herbals to relieve the suffering in the larger community.

Mybarrio: Emigdio Vasquez And Chicana/O Identity In Orange County, Natalie Lawler, Denise Johnson, Marcus Herse, Jessica Bocinski, Manon Wogahn
Exhibition Catalogs
"Emigdio Vasquez created artwork that challenged Orange County’s more prominent narrative of wealthy beachside neighborhoods. He painted the brown bodies and brown histories that defined our earliest communities and economy... Vasquez produced much of the local art history that Orange County should be known for and should protect. It is with this perspective that Chapman University is proud to present the exhibition, My Barrio: Emigdio Vasquez and Chicana/o Identity in Orange County, in conjunction with the Getty Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA initiative. We hope to initiate discourse not only about Vasquez’s prolific career, but also about the larger political …

Prepared by the Spring 2017 Case Studies in Historic Preservation students. Located partially in the City of Atlanta, DeKalb County and in unincorporated DeKalb County. East Atlanta is a good example of an evolving suburb. In the late 19th and early 20th century the area was an urban neighborhood that relied on the streetcar system and by World War II had evolved into an automobile-reliant suburban. Development progressed from a densely, gridded street pattern in the northern portion indicating a traditional urban neighborhood to a curvilinear street pattern in the southern section indicating an automobile-centric suburb. The area includes at …

Faculty and Staff - Ebooks
Funded by a grant from the National Park Service American Battlefield Protection Program, this study delves into the technical, often forgotten, aspects of the Siege of Newport - a Revolutionary War engagement that took place in Middletown, RI in August 1778. It pairs the historical record with scientific analysis of the artillery, fortifications, geography and unforeseen circumstances that impacted the Siege. While much of the original earthen defense-works are now gone, there are a small number of sites that still exist. This study also covers what sites remain, their condition and thoughts on how to preserve and commemorate them.
