The International Construction Measurement Standard Coalition (the Coalition) was formed on 17 June 2015 after meeting at the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC, USA. The Coalition, comprising the organisations listed below at the date of publication, aims to bring about consistency in construction cost reporting standards internationally. This is achieved by the creation and adoption of this ICMS, an agreed international standard for the structuring and presentation of cost reports. The production of bills of quantities as a means of obtaining tenders has traditionally been viewed as a primary function of the quantity surveying profession.
This study investigates the function and format of bills of quantities in the Irish context. It explains the nature of bills, how they are compiled, and identifies the situations in which they may be used. The Identification Of Key Economic And Property Variables That Impact On Prime Office Rents: A Study Of Seven European Cities, Aoife Reilly

The aim of this dissertation is to identify and assess the impact of macroeconomic and property variables on prime office rental levels. Data from seven diverse European cities was gathered from 2000 to 2014 and statistical analysis using econometric modelling was undertaken. The results unveil a number of relationships between the explanatory variables and prime office rents. In particular, the results highlight movements in the office vacancy rate and GDP as important variables impacting change in prime office rental levels while employment, interest rates and inflation play a less significant role. This research examines the concept of internships as a Work Placement option on undergraduate Quantity Surveying courses in light of the economic climate that prevails in Ireland at present. The Irish Construction Industry has experienced unprecedented decline over the last six years, with reduced employment prospects as a result.
