This dissertation consists of three essays that examine the strategic interactions between companies and consumers, aiming to offer insights into solutions companies can make to both better protect consumers' rights and enhance their profits. Anterior Monteggia injuries are frequently complicated by persistent radial head instability and suboptimal outcomes. Using a cadaveric elbow motion simulator, we quantified the contributions of ligaments of the proximal radius on maintaining radial head stability, evaluated the effectiveness of ulnar overcorrection to create an apex dorsal angulation in stabilizing the radiocapitellar joint, and finally compared the stabilizing effect of annular ligament repair to three different reconstruction techniques. Our results showed increased anterior radial head translation with progressive soft tissue sectioning with the annular ligament as the primary stabilizer. Unfortunately, 87% of women with breast asymmetry lack adequate tools for assessing their cancer risk. A random sample of 19 CCPA registered Canadian Counsellors were interviewed and asked about their social location. Anxiety is the most prevalent comorbidity among children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The phenotypical presentation of anxiety among children and adolescents with ASD is lacking within the literature. This study sought to differentiate behavioral phenotypes associated with anxiety in children with ASD from anxiety in typically-developing children. Participants completed a series of child and parent reports measuring anxiety, depressive symptoms, ASD symptom severity, emotional problems, parental stress, and socioeconomic factors. Three distinct anxiety profiles, including moderate, high, and low, were identified. This study numerically investigated the reaction behaviours of catalytic ozone decomposition reaction in a 10.2-meter-tall gas-solids circulating fluidized bed (CFB) reactor. A pseudo-homogeneous reactive transport model for ozone decomposition, integrated with the two-fluid model, was developed and validated using experimental data. Based on the model, the impacts of turbulence models, specularity coefficients, and simulation methods on reaction behaviours in the CFB riser reactor were explored. This thesis explores the masculinity of soldiers from Calgary during the Great War using a theoretical framework of hegemonic masculinity. The first chapter establishes a normative masculine standard in Calgary using local newspaper coverage of battalion departure parades. These events were rituals that celebrated militarized masculinity and reinforced the hegemonic ideal that existed across the British Empire in the early 20^th century. The second chapter assesses how masculinity was performed in letters during the war. Pulmonary imaging using computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provide a method to measure airway and parenchymal pathologic information that cannot be provided using spirometry. Currently, it remains difficult to predict which chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients will worsen using spirometry, which although safe and inexpensive, does not provide small airway information where COPD is believed to initiate. Attributions or feature significance methods are tools for explaining model predictions, facilitating model debugging, human-machine collaborative decision making, and establishing trust and compliance in critical applications. Recent work has shown that attributions of neural networks can be distorted by imperceptible adversarial input perturbations, which makes attributions unreliable as an explainability method. The signs and symptoms of low back pain (LBP) associated with disc herniation (DLBP) and its underlying mechanism(s) are not well supported. One theory proposes that some low back pain (LBP) is the result of a disc herniation compressing adjacent tissues innervated with nociceptors. The theory proposes that spinal manipulation (SM) and/or mobilizations (SMOB) can reduce the size and position of the herniation, and relieve pain and improve range of motion.
