The McGillicuddy Humanities Center now has thirteen affiliated funds, designed to support research, travel and other enrichment of student work in humanities fields.

Women’s basketball, as an intercollegiate activity, had its beginning in the 1971-72 season, along with a number of other women’s sports. Unfortunately, there is no statistical compilation of the early days of women’s basketball until the 1975-76 season. In that season Eilene Fox was named head coach and she continued in that post until the 1983-84 season when Peter Gavett assumed the reins.

The Black Bears' fifth-seeded team was expected to fall to fourth-ranked Northeastern for two reasons. First, the Huskies were coming off one of their school's best seasons at 19-8, and second, NU had toppled Maine twice during the regular season. Add the homecourt advantage and fans knew which team was favored. Only it didn't work out that way. The Bears hung in to lead by four at the half, but leading scorer Rufus Harris was in foul trouble. Dickey-Lincoln School Lakes Project
The Dickey-Lincoln Hydroelectric Dam is a water resources project proposed by the Federal Government (U. S. Army Corps of Engineers). Therefore, in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, the Corps of Engineers is required to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) on the project. A federal plan or project such as Dickey-Lincoln should take into account its effect upon man's health, safety, welfare and economic well-being, as well as effects upon the surrounding environment. More importantly, project plans should be evaluated in a "manner calculated to encourage harmony between man and his environment." In other words, project plans or …
