Improvement Of Cafeteria Behavior Through The Use Of Behavior Modification, Joseph S. Ronca

The practicum was entitled “Improvement of Cafeteria Behavior Through the Use of Behavior Modification”. The setting was an elementary school consisting of kindergarten through sixth grade. Previous methods for controlling lunchroom behaviors were not effective. By setting up a behavior modification system in which appropriate behavior was reinforced, the noise level was controlled and at least 60% of the class earned the opportunity to receive a weekly reward for following cafeteria rules. Furthermore, the project was successful enough that he faulty and administration wished for it to be an ongoing program.

Increasing The Mathematics Performance Of Learning Disabled Children Through Self-Monitoring Of Attention Span, Geraldine B. Newton

A program to self-monitor attention spans for learning disabled students in grades three through six was implemented to aid them in remaining on task while in math class. A recorded “beeper” was set up to remind students to stay on task. Students marked a checksheet to indicate whether or not they were on task when the “beep” went off. The program’s aims were to help the students increase his mathematics performance as demonstrated by an increase of achievement on the math section of the Wide Range Achievement Test. The purpose of this study was to develop an integrative theoretical approach to the study of individuals' behavior in organizations, and to present an application of the approach to understanding the performance of Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets. Individuals' perceptions of the environment were proposed to exist at three levels of analysis: (1) psychological climate (i.e., individual); (2) group climate; and organizational climate. Further, climate perceptions were proposed to result from the simultaneous influence of objective (i.e., actual) situational characteristics, and individuals' needs and characteristics. The problem this study addressed was, what was the personal power management profile of selected successful community college presidents. In analyzation of this problem the power motivation and style theories of McClelland and Burnham, Blake and Mouton, and Hall and Hawker were used. The three sets of theorists had theorized about power motive and style and its implication for the "good or ideal" manager; The conjectures of these theorists and the practical writings of Fisher, Power In The Presidency, and Vaughn, The Community College Presidency, were applied to twenty community college presidents in the development of a power management profile. …
