Problem: Loneliness related to social isolation among the older adult population has become an increasing health concern with few interventions available for the general population. Loneliness has been directly associated with depression, poorer physical health outcomes, and overall quality of life.

This quality improvement project's purpose was to evaluate mindfulness on depression in dialysis patients, aged 18-93, who are on dialysis and participated in a mindfulness program over three months.

Methods: A descriptive, prospective, and retrospective design was used to assess depression pre- and post-implementation of a mindfulness telephone line over three months. Trauma serves as a risk factor for developing both posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. The purpose of this study was to examine trauma type as a mediator in the relationship between gender and severity of depressive symptoms among veterans with PTSD. The literature shows trauma type plays a role in developing PTSD and depressive symptoms. The first hypothesis was that female veterans who met the diagnostic criteria for PTSD would report higher levels of depressive symptoms than their male counterparts. This paper reports the results of a retrospective record review and qualitative questionnaires of mothers of children with neurocognitive disorders such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The aim was to examine the relationship between DIRFloortime® use in children with ASD and ADHD and PHQ-8 scores for depression, GAD-7 scores for anxiety, and PSS-10 scores for perceived stress among the children’s mothers. The results showed no statistical significance between DIRFloortime® use in children and PHQ-8, GAD-7, and PSS-10 scores for mothers. Rationale: PMADs affect as many as 21% of childbearing women, yet these disorders are identified and treated less than half the time. There is a gap in the literature regarding the relationships among stigma, social support, and PMADs in postpartum women.

One possible variable is that of underlying dimensions, latent factors that give rise to these manifestations of psychopathology.
