Recommend on/off status for each piece of equipment in the system. 2. Recommended rate of operation for each piece of machinery. 3. Required amounts …

Analytical And Experimental Investigation Of Thermosyphon Solar Hot Water Systems, William E. Clark Jan 1976

Analytical And Experimental Investigation Of Thermosyphon Solar Hot Water Systems, William E. Clark

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

A computer simulation of a thermosyphon system allowing load drawoff and non-ideal weather conditions has been developed. The model is restricted to the more common single cover, flat plate collector system. Using an analysis based on the present literature, this model calculates the energy absorbed by the collector, the temperature distribution through the system, and the corresponding flow rate. Experimental data for a non-ideal day is compared to the computer simulation. Results of this comparison indicate that the desired parameters, flow rate, collector inlet and outlet temperatures, and the mean tank temperature can be predicted by this model to within …

Vapor Phase Oxidation Of Chloropropenes Over Heterogeneous Catalyst Systems, Tim Ellis Owen Jan 1976

Vapor Phase Oxidation Of Chloropropenes Over Heterogeneous Catalyst Systems, Tim Ellis Owen

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

Propylene Dichloride (PDC) is a byproduct of several Dow processes. The thermal cracking of PDC produces 1-cis-chloropropene, 1-trans-chloropropene, 2-chloropropene, and allyl chloride . By oxidizing the l- and 2-chloropropenes to 3- and 2- chloroacrylic acids, respectively, a potentially valuable product could be made. The chloropropenes, air, and steam were passed over various heterogeneous oxidation catalyst systems to attempt this oxidation. Contact time was varied between 0.0951 to 0.915 sec. Temperature was varied between 275C to .25C. The air content of the feed was varied between .1 to 75%. The chloropropene content of the feed was varied between 2.9% to 5.0% …

Mass Loadings Of Selected Water Quality Parameters For The State Of Florida, Charles D. Miller Jan 1976

Mass Loadings Of Selected Water Quality Parameters For The State Of Florida, Charles D. Miller

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

The mass loadings of pollutants common in surface waters result from the discharges of many different sources. In the last few years it has been noted that nonpoint sources contribute more pollutants than point sources. This is because in many cases the point source discharges have been, by law, reduced drastically. In the State of Florida many water quality parameters were examined to estimate the mass loadings in streams related to, drainage area, average flow, land use, soil type and management practices. A total of sixteen streams were examined. The information was first calculated for mass loadings as a function …

Multicoupled Bandpass Filter Design Using A Multiple Feedback Configuration, Robert J. Martin Jan 1976

Multicoupled Bandpass Filter Design Using A Multiple Feedback Configuration, Robert J. Martin

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

In this paper, two methods for the design of active analog feedback bandpass filter pairs are examined. A third method is presented that does not use extra amplifiers for summation nor multicoupling. This third method uses identical bandpass amplifies and employs resistor summing to provide multicoupling. The name of this configuration is the "Dual Amplifier Bandpass Filter Employing Resistor Summing" (DABFERS). This configuration is economically attractive, has low sensitivity and better phase lag characteristics. In addition, third order prototypes are examined and a solution method for higher order prototypes is suggested.
