A Comparison Of Comprehension Of Rate Controlled Speech By Young Aphasic And Normal Children, Deborah Gomez
A Comparison Of Comprehension Of Rate Controlled Speech By Young Aphasic And Normal Children, Deborah Gomez
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
It is obvious that the effects of speaking rate on the ability of aphasic children to comprehend verbal material has not been extensively researched. The studies cited above suggest that an increase in rate adversely affects comprehension by various subjects, while a decrease in rate may improve comprehension by certain subjects. Therefore, the present study attempted to examine the effects of the rate at which an auditory stimulus is presented to aphasic and normal children.
Characterization Of The Physical Properties And The Bioavailability Of Phenobarbital Tablets, Usp, 100 Mg, Mario F. Sylvestri
Characterization Of The Physical Properties And The Bioavailability Of Phenobarbital Tablets, Usp, 100 Mg, Mario F. Sylvestri
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
The Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act of 1938 required a producer of a new drug to substantiate the safety of the drug product when used as recommended; however, the introduction of the Kefauver-Harris Amendments of 1962 considerably strengthened this act. These amendments intensified the controls on quality, labeling, and safety, while adding a new requirement that all NDA's should be able to present substantial evidence of the effectiveness of the drug product for its indicated use of uses (4). The procedure used to determine the efficacy of a drug included identification of the product, copies of the labeling, and a …
Increasing The Movement Of Care Home Residents To Independent Living, Anna L. Kusick
Increasing The Movement Of Care Home Residents To Independent Living, Anna L. Kusick
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
The present study utilized a model apartment as a transitional facility in conjunction with exposure-sampling to increase the movement of care home residents to independent living. A model apartment is oen set up with all items necessary for everyday living, including dishes, pots and pans, bedding, cleaning articles, etc., which serves as an example of what the client might live in were he to move to his own apartment. Little or no work has been done on the use of a model apartment as a transitional facility. Though the Fountain House program has apartments for their clients, they do not …
The Use Of Habit Reversal In Reducing Tics With Two Institutionalized Individuals, Phyllis Williamson
The Use Of Habit Reversal In Reducing Tics With Two Institutionalized Individuals, Phyllis Williamson
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
The possible application of habit reversal to mentally ill institutional residents has not been investigated. While habit reversal holds considerable promise as a treatment mode, due to its rapid success and patient involvement in controlling his-her own behavior, further research is in order. To investigate the generality of habit reversal to an institutionalized population, the present study utilized self-monitoring, which has been found to be effective with hospitalized patients, and habit reversal, which has been found to be effective with a non-hospitalized population, as a treatment package for eliminating nervous tics. There are four major purposes for doing this present …

The Clinical Pharmacy Program In A Community Hospital Setting : An Integral Part Of The Educational Process, Franklin D. Kamian
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
The intent of this work is to emphasize that the concept of clinical pharmacy is no longer an innovation or an educational experiment, but rather is a reality which requires national recognition, professional as well as legislative support, and clearly planned educational preparation.
Insulin Adsorption To Intravenous Delivery Systems, Michael Joseph Zarcone
Insulin Adsorption To Intravenous Delivery Systems, Michael Joseph Zarcone
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
Lack of quantitative adsorption data makes it difficult for a physician to determine the actual amount of insulin received by a patient against the amount added to the intravenous infusion system. This project was therefore initiated to determine quantitatively the extent of adsorption that would occur in a clinical setting.
In order to achieve the above aim, varying amounts of carrier insulin containing I-labeled insulin were added to the intravenous infusion delivery system. Using the most commonly utilized mode of delivery and flow rate the tagged insulin solution was allowed to flow through the intravenous delivery system. Both the amount …
