It was the purpose of this study to compare the attitudes of the adolescents of ages 17 to 19 who attended school in Turkey and the United States. Specifically, the research attempted to investigate the extent of similarity and dissimilarity between the attitudes of the present American and Turkish adolescents of ages 17 to 19 who attended school in Istanbul, Turkey and California, U.S.A., towards: (1) their teacher, (2) their peers, (3) their parents, (4) institutional constraint, (5) their self concept, and (6) their academic aspirations. The investigator was a cross-cultural study which had data from prospective cultures.

It was the purpose of this study to determine the effect of study trips and subsequent discussion on the vocabulary of kindergarten pupils from three social groups in Madora County.

Seventy-nine pupils, selected from three classrooms in three rural school districts, were classified as middle-class Anglo-American, lower-class Anglo-American, and lower-class Mexican-American. Two of the three classes were designated as experimental and one as the control class.

The instructional design, twelve study trips (one each week) and ensuing discussions, encourage pupils to use new words and develop and expand the meanings of words.

Chone mollis occurs in large numbers in Tomales Bay and is an ecologically important infaunal member of the bay community. As with most marine communities, very little work has been done with individual species of the community. The present study of C. mollis is a contribution towards an understanding of the community as an ecological unit.

This study investigates the structure and function of the tube; tube-building habits; burrowing and locomotion; external anatomy; feeding; and internal anatomy of the muscular, skeletal, vascular, excretory, reproductive, and alimentary systems of C. mollis.

The purpose of this study, then, is to prepare and characterize the complexes produced by the reaction of these ligards with rhodium III chloride. Of particular interest will be the mode of bonding of the ligand to the metal ion. For the first two groups, the potential exists for bonding to the metal from different parts of the ligand molecule. Bridging and chelation are also possibilities. Examination of the infrared spectrum of each complex should produce information as to the position of bonding. For one complex of the aminopyridines an N.M.R. spectrum will be examined.

Immunoelectrophoresis revealed an antigen-antibody response between 4 day metabolic products and 8, 12 and 16 day sera and between 4 day trypanosomal extract and 16 day serum.

Metabolic products from trypanosomes incubated at room temperature do not appear to be antigenic.

The limitations of immunodiffusion are discussed in reference to the results. It is suggested that some of the antibodies to metabolic products may be of the precipitating type while others are not.

Since a faint reaction also occurred between 4 day trypanosomal extract and 16 day serum, it may be concluded that metabolic products contribute to only a portion …

On July 10, 1968, while observing the effects of ultra-violet light on a plate culture of Sarcino lutea, o contaminant was found growing in the form of a colony surrounded by a clear zone of inhibition where S. lutea had failed to grow. A smear from this contaminant colony was found to contain a Gram positive, chain-ond spore-forming bacillus. The organism was isolated and its antagonism against S. lutea was reshocked. This is especially true in the case of parenteral administration when one must be aware not only of therapeutic interactions but also chemical and physical reactions that might occur.

However, Farner (1965) feels that the small amount of experimental evidence suggests that photoperiod may play a role in the testicular cycle of Rana esculenta. Thais emarginata (Deshayes, 1839) and Thais canaliculata (Dulcos, 1832), are two common Pacific coast gastropods (Family: Muricidae). T. emarginata is found in semi-protected rocky areas from Alaska to Baja California, while T. canaliaulata occurs in quiet bays from Alaska to Monterey Bay, California (Ricketts and Calvin, 1966). Both species occur on rocks and jetties where they can be seen feeding upon barnacles and young mussels. Despite the abundance of these species their reproductive biology has not been examined.
