Independent Study Project (ISP) Collection
When I first arrived in Spain, I wanted to conduct my Independent Study Project on the relationship between machismo and homosexuality, and how these lifestyles were represented in the arts throughout Spanish history. Ideally, I would have liked to study the foundation of machismo, and how it was realized and enforced upon the Spanish people and culture, especially during the regime of Francisco Franco. Then, I would have liked to contrast that movement with the portrayal and the image of the homosexuality community, exhibiting how that broke such a traditionalist belief system. The reason why this subject fascinated me was …
He Is The One: The Matrix Trilogy's Postmodern Movie Messiah, Mark D. Stucky
He Is The One: The Matrix Trilogy's Postmodern Movie Messiah, Mark D. Stucky
Journal of Religion & Film
Many films have used Christ figures to enrich their stories. In The Matrix trilogy, however, the Christ figure motif goes beyond superficial plot enhancements and forms the fundamental core of the three-part story. Neo's messianic growth (in self-awareness and power) and his eventual bringing of peace and salvation to humanity form the essential plot of the trilogy. Without the messianic imagery, there could still be a story about the human struggle in the Matrix, of course, but it would be a radically different story than that presented on the screen.

The study of urban legends helps us be more alert to false information in our everyday lives. There are very limited resources about urban legends and the impact of the stories on deaf culture. There are very few stories that are common in the deaf community. There are plenty of books about urban legends, but none includes deaf people. This is a problem for the deaf students because …
