This sweet story, intended for lower elementary grades, is intended to provide a window for discussing earthquakes, tsunamis, marine debris, preparedness and cultural awareness in the classroom and within families.

1 scroll. "Rivers are the source of all development, and civilizations are made up of individuals. The original of this scroll was a collage on a QRS player piano roll of Blue Danube Waltz (Strauss) which I happened to find at an antique shop. When I lived in Osaka, I took pictures of ordinary local people while walking along the city's iconic Yodo river all the way to the bay as a collection of slice-of-life scenes of people in the limited area and time that I could experience at first hand, and laid them on the stream of the elegant …

Dr. Jeffrey Angles likes to describe himself as the accidental professor because, unlike many people he knows who planned to become teachers when they completed their educations, he was more focused on the immediate goal of studying Japanese literature and translating. Scouting, Signaling, And Gatekeeping: Chinese Naval Operations In Japanese Waters And The International Law Implications, Peter A. Dutton

CMSI Red Books

In October 2008, a month after Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan stepped down and the more hawkish Taro Aso took office, a Chinese flotilla of four People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) ships transited from west to east through Japan's narrow Tsugaru Strait en route to the Pacific Ocean. The vessels were observed together in the Sea of Japan, headed east toward the strait, by a Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) P-3C patrol aircraft; they were about twenty-five nautical miles west-southwest of Tappizaki, the cape at the northern tip of the Tsugaru Peninsula, where the Sea of Japan enters the …

Current And Future Challenges For Asian Nonproliferation Export Controls: A Regional Response, Scott A. Jones Dr. Oct 2004

Current And Future Challenges For Asian Nonproliferation Export Controls: A Regional Response, Scott A. Jones Dr.

Monographs, Collaborative Studies, & IRPs

As Asia develops into a clearly demarcated economic "region," it is confronted by similar export control challenges as those faced in Europe with the advent of the Common Market. As such, a regional system of export control standards and practices emerged as a means to ensure not only economic parity, but regional and international security as well. While not necessarily as advanced in terms of regional identity as the European free trade area, the states of Asia could benefit profitably from a regional approach to export control development and coordination.
