The underdevelopment of effective adult literacy programs in Northern Kenya is a problem that must be addressed to meet the needs of a changing generation of nomadic pastoralists. Existing programs must be reevaluated in order to increase their efficiency and incorporate the unique aspects of local cultures into their design. This paper explores the broadening definition of literacy and discusses how there are in fact multiple literacies in any given culture. The Enlightenment doctrine of progressivism, and Francis Schaeffer’s Christian worldviews could hardly be more different. This thesis critiques the Enlightenment doctrine from the perspective of Francis Schaeffer through some of his most notable works. Specifically, this thesis explores the doctrine of progressivism, the idea that man and or society are constantly improving and getting better. The primary Enlightenment authors will include Voltaire, Hume, Locke, Rousseau, Turgot, and Kant. Francis Schaeffer’s counterarguments and perspective will be shown through The Complete Works of Francis A. Schaeffer, a five-volume collection of his various works.

The purpose of this grounded theory study was to explain the process by which relationships evolve between teachers and students in a suburban East Tennessee middle school. Based on the assumption that "knowledge is created through action and interaction" (Corbin & Strauss, 2008, p. 2), this study aimed to gain a deeper understanding of the relationships between middle school teachers and their students. It is incredible to contemplate that while a nation was fighting a two front war that spanned from Europe into the Pacific, that the United States was able to utilize the time, energy, brains, materials, manpower, and capital to complete a project in four years. Being a parent means taking on both the joys and struggles that come with it. When a parent discovers that his or her child has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the level of stress changes. It could be helpful to discover the severity of change that the stresses involved in parenting a child with ASD brings to the parent/child relationship and what effect this has on a child’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual development. The main focus is on proving through the examination of various literature and the effects of specific nutrients that nutrition has a great impact on mental and physical well-being.
