Visible Opacity Of M Dwarfs And Hot Jupiters: The Tio B³Π-X³Δ Band System, W. Doug Cameron, Peter Bernath Jan 2022

Visible Opacity Of M Dwarfs And Hot Jupiters: The Tio B³Π-X³Δ Band System, W. Doug Cameron, Peter Bernath

Chemistry & Biochemistry Faculty Publications

The TiO B3Π−X3Δ electronic transition (𝛾' system) is an important opacity source in the atmospheres of M dwarfs and hot Jupiter exoplanets. The 0–0, 1–0, and 2–1 bands of the B3Π−X3Δ band system have been analyzed using a TiO emission spectrum recorded at the McMath-Pierce Solar Telescope, operated by the National Solar Observatory at Kitt Peak, Arizona. Improved spectroscopic and equilibrium constants were determined. Line strengths were calculated from an ab initio transition-dipole moment function scaled using an experimental lifetime. A new line list for v' = 0–2 and v′′ = 0–4 …

Cylindera (Ifasina) thitarooae Wiesner and Hori, new species, Jansenia phyuae Wiesner and Hori, new species, and the previously unknown male of Jansenia myanmarensis Wiesner, 2004 (Coleoptera: Cicindelidae) are described. Cylindera (I.) thitarooae may be recognized by shape of labrum and aedeagus. Jansenia phyuae may be recognized by its elytral contour and shape of elytral maculation.

Cartel Leniency Program And Cartel Enforcement In South Korea, Kyung Jong Han Jan 2015

Cartel Leniency Program And Cartel Enforcement In South Korea, Kyung Jong Han

MPA/MPP/MPFM Capstone Projects

Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) is in charge of competition and consumer protection policies in South Korea. Of these policies, the cartel leniency program is the most powerful enforcement tool to regulate cartel activities which expropriate consumer surplus and create social welfare deadweight loss. The cartel leniency program grants exemptions or reductions in penalties to firms involved in the cartel activities when they cooperate with the cartel investigation of a competition authority. The Korea cartel leniency program was first adopted in 1997 and considerably revised in 2004.

The cartel leniency program can enhance the cartel detection or discovery ability of …

Lower-Limb Amputee Rehabilitation In Australia: Analysis Of A National Data Set 2004-10, Brenton G. Hordacre, Tara Stevermuer, Frances Simmonds, Maria Crotty, Kathy Eagar

Kathy Eagar

Objective. Examine demographics, clinical characteristics and rehabilitation outcomes of lower-limb amputees, using the Australasian Rehabilitation Outcomes Centre (AROC) database. Methods. Lower-limb amputee rehabilitation separations between 2004 and 2010 were identified using AROC impairment codes 5.3-5.7.1 Analysis was conducted by year, impairment code, Australian National Sub-acute and Non-Acute Patient (AN-SNAP) classification (S2-224, Functional Independence Measure (FIM) motor(Mot) score 72-91; S2-225, FIM (Mot) score 14-71) and states of Australia. Results. Mean length of stay (LOS) for all lower-limb amputee episodes was 36.1 days (95% confidence interval (CI): 35.4-36.9). Majority of episodes were unilateral below knee (63.6%), males (71.8%) with a mean age …

Time Trends In And The Determinants Of Disability Among Elderly Taiwanese, 1994-2004, Chun-Min Chen, David Atherton Griffiths, Irene Kreis, Herng-Chia Chiu, Judy Mullan, Tzuo-Yun Lan Dec 2012

Time Trends In And The Determinants Of Disability Among Elderly Taiwanese, 1994-2004, Chun-Min Chen, David Atherton Griffiths, Irene Kreis, Herng-Chia Chiu, Judy Mullan, Tzuo-Yun Lan

Professor David Griffiths

This longitudinal study was conducted between 1994 and 2004 in a cohort of southern Taiwan community-living elderly residents. This study aims to investigate the longitudinal change in disability, by using a ten-year longitudinal data set with six set cross-sectional data to exam-ine the trends of disability and the determinants. Disability was assessed using the Physical Activities of Daily Living (7PADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (7IADLs) scales. Socio-demographic factors; socioeconomic factors; living arrangements; lifestyle behaviours and health status were chosen as the predictors of each specific disability. eneralized estimating equation (GEE) regression models were used to analyse longitudinal data …

Sexual Citizenship And The Civil Union Act 2004, Nan Seuffert Dec 2012

Sexual Citizenship And The Civil Union Act 2004, Nan Seuffert

Professor Nan Seuffert

This article analyses the parliamentary debates on the Civil Union Act 2004, which provides for legal recognition of same sex relationships, for stories of national identity. A close reading of the parliamentary debates on the Act suggests that although the supporters and opponents of the legislation seemed to be worlds apart, many told similar stories about New Zealand as a nation, and citizens within that nation, emphasising similar values and aspirations. Both sides told stories of citizens, of New Zealanders, as tolerant and fair, as forwarding-looking progressives who value stable long-term, committed relationships, warm loving communities for children, and strong …
