Electronic Health Record (EHR) in-basket results (e.g., lab results, pathology reports, etc.) must be reviewed and acted upon in a timely manner by clinical staff in order to provide safe and effective care to ambulatory patients. Delays in reading results are significant contributors to medical errors. A large backlog of in-basket results that have never been appropriately filed is both a safety concern and a symptom of other clinical workflow issues. EHRs have shifted a greater proportion of administrative and triage roles onto providers, contributing to provider burnout. It is well known that organizational teams are highly valued in work settings (Marquis, 2019). Some research has shown gender differences such as "team collaboration is greatly improved by the presence of women in the group" (Baer & Woolley, 2011). Other studies support mixed gender teams as advantageous (Sachiko & Takeda, 2014). This paper will review the perceptions of gender contributions in teams from the literature and report on a study of current business students in a liberal arts university. Some comparisons are made to the author's 2017 survey on gender effects in team projects in the same school.

Team FX is a team that trains for endurance events. Coach Gary Walker launched the team in 2005was started by in response to his own experiences training with other endurance event teams. The training regimens of these teams scaled too quickly and were too intense for most athletes, resulting in the fact that he and many athletes on the teams were consistently sustaining injuries. Coach Gary researched and worked with many professionals to develop coaching materials for his own team, Team FX, in order to make endurance event training more accessible and less injury ridden. Virtual connection takes more energy and commitment than face-to-face connections. Degges-White (2020) found, “you are likely to feel a kind of exhaustion from that screen time that's unlike the exhaustion you’d feel from an hour at the gym. Even extroverts can feel worn down by the ‘high-intensity virtual connection’” (para. 4). Forensics teams are not immune to this exhaustion and therefore coaches and teammates have to be intentional with providing opportunities for connection to strengthen team survival. The increase in sport participation among adolescents has led to the rise in sport-related injuries, many of which have unique characteristics based on the patient, their perceptions, and the pressures faced when returning to sport. The purpose of this study was to identify the underlying factors that contributed to adolescents’ perceptions of injury and the various pressures they experienced when returning to sport. Two themes emerged from the study: support and fear. Support was provided to participants through development, care, and the environment. The purpose of this research is to develop an understanding of followership behaviors in engineering design team situations by studying leadership behaviors. While leadership in engineering design teams has been studied from role, function or behavior, and individual characteristic perspectives, no studies appear to examine (follower) helping behavior in the context of an engineering design team. Understanding this behavior can lead to intervention strategies that might be employed to improve team dynamics and performance. This interdisciplinary project consisted of a team of 9 members: 4 ARCH majors, 2 CRP majors, 2 Finance majors, and 1 CM Major. The goal of this project was to complete an entire construction plan within a city on an empty lot from start to finish. The project entailed finding an empty site, building out a building model with renderings, floor plans, and elevations, understanding the market and our target residents, the geographical condition of the site and current ownership, a construction schedule and complete breakdown of construction costs. Although deep-level diversity among team members are often discussed as important catalysts of team creativity, little is currently understood about the impact of diversity in team members’ personality on team creativity and team satisfaction. We propose that diversity in team members’ agreeableness would reduce the effectiveness of creative teams through its impact on team conflict experienced. To test our hypotheses, we recruited 93 student teams to participate in a laboratory study where each member had their personality traits assessed before engaging in a team creativity task. Volatile, complex, and ambiguous work environments require organizations to focus on continuous employee development and performance improvement across all organizational levels. As a result, organizational development (OD) practices for employee development rapidly increased throughout the past decade. One such vital individualized training intervention – organizational coaching – facilitates continuous behavioral change, development, and performance improvement across employees (Joo et al., 2012). This dissertation is composed of two essays. In the first essay, I investigate the factors that can alleviate the detrimental effect of hierarchy on team performance. I first show that hierarchy negatively impacts team performance, which is consistent with recent meta-analytic evidence. One mechanism that drives this negative effect is that hierarchy prevents low-ranking members from voicing their potentially valuable insights. Then I propose that team familiarity is one factor that can encourage low-ranking team members to speak up. Hospital chaplains experience obstacles in contributing to team objectives when a part of transdisciplinary teams. This case study explores the communication challenges of membership on transdisciplinary teams for hospital chaplains, using a fictional account based on data from a previous study. Chaplain David Howard is one of three chaplains at Grace Hospital and is assigned to the newly formed palliative care transdisciplinary team. Despite the common belief that knowledge sharing in new product development (NPD) teams is beneficial, empirical findings are mixed. We adopt a microfoundations perspective and draw from the socio-cognitive theory to propose a model that theorizes a nonlinear effect of customer knowledge sharing behaviors on NPD performance. In particular, we identify the underlying mechanism through which shared common customer knowledge and perceived diagnostic value shape the nonlinear returns to customer knowledge sharing behaviors.
