The students, staff, and faculty of Governors State University recently heard from President Elaine P. Maimon about the state of GSU.

During Convocation, Dr. Maimon recognized the positive momentum on campus. She discussed past and ongoing projects, which are helping to improve the university’s teaching and learning environment including the parking lot repaving, classroom remodeling, and expanded shuttle bus service. She addressed enrollment increases, state budget constraints, and proposed revisions to the academic calendar.

Maimon Honored For Helping Women Achieve, Office Of Public Affairs

Dr. Elaine P. Maimon, President of Governors State University, was honored by the Ex-Saker Students Association (EXSSA) at their 8th Annual Convention at Chicago’s Ritz Carlton. The EXSSA membership comprises alumni of Saker Baptist College in Limbe, Cameroon. GSU Foundation Board member Bea Tayui, of Flossmoor, nominated Dr. Maimon for the honor.

Dr. Maimon was recognized, alongside Kelly O’Brien, founder of the O’Brien School for the Masai in Tanzania. Both honorees were selected for their dedication to educating women.

Dr. Elaine P. Maimon, president of Governors State University recently received an honorary membership to the Matteson Rotary Club. She is only the second person to be named an honorary member of the organization.
