The paper presents the results of many years of complex research issues related to the emission of fluorine compounds of iron and steel processes. They allowed to examine these processes used in raw materials in terms of the fluorine content and their impact on the amount of emissions of fluorine compounds to the air. Were determined by measuring the levels of concentration in flue gases and stack emissions of fluorine in the form of gaseous and solid compounds, including water-soluble components (considered to be toxic).

The article describes the problem of the presence of sulfur in the blast furnace process and identifies emission sources of sulfur compounds in this process. On the basis of the measurements and calculations, the types and quantities of these compounds emitted to the air were determined. It was found that pig iron smelting in a blast furnace causes emissions of COS, SO2 and H2S. These emissions occur by losses of blast furnace gas (COS and SO2), transport of blast furnace slag inside the furnace hall (SO2) and treatment of the slag by granulation (H2S). The paper presents a review of emissions of main gaseous pollutants (including acidic constituents), some organic compounds (including dioxins and furans), particulates and heavy metals from cement kilns burning waste fuels.

A widely employed method to reduce the cost of cement production is the substitution of traditional fuels used in cement kilns with alternative and waste-derived fuels. Cement industry offers the most acceptable method of waste (especially hazardous waste) thermal treatment and disposal at much lower cost than commercial incinerators. Perceived Barriers To Labor Force Participation Among Welfare Recipients In West Virginia, Melissa Latimer

This research utilizes data collected by the Children's Policy Institute (CPI) of West Virginia in 1993 to identify perceived barriers to labor force participation for families with children receiving AFDC and/or Food Stamps. By merging data on West Virginia from several county-level data sources with the CPI data, this multi-level research identifies the major barriers West Virginia welfare recipients perceive as limiting their labor force participation (i.e., as explaining their current unemployment status). This research also examines how the barriers identified vary among welfare recipients.

Information Provided by Michael D. Bulmash: As Swiss vice-consul in Budapest from 1942-1945, Lutz was instrumental in rescuing Hungarian Jews from deportation by both Nazis and Hungarians. He is credited with issuing 10,000 documents allowing Jewish children to emigrate to Palestine in 1942. Later, having negotiated permission to issue 8,000 protective passes, Lutz “re-interpreted” that number and applied it to families rather than individuals. By this strategy he was able to save …

Sejak tahun 1990 - 1996 Indonesia menerima aliran modal asing dalam jumlah besar. Untuk meredam dampak negatif dari aliran modal masuk tersebut otoritas moneter mengambil kebijakan berupa sterilized intervention, peningkatan Giro Wajib Minimum (GWM), konversi deposito pemerintah dan sistem nilai tukar mengambang terkendali dengan band intervensi yang semakin longgar.Dari hasil pengujian secara empirik terbukti bahwa kebijakan tersebut cukup efektif dalam meredam dampak negatif aliran modal asing tersebut. Namun demikian, mengingat modal asing yang masuk bersifat sistemic maka kebijakan tersebut tidak dapat digunakan secara terus-menerus.
