Standing Out: The Influence Of Organizational Culture And Cultural Values On A Manager's Willingness To Meaningfully Differentiate Employee Performance, Mercedes Mcbride-Walker

This mixed-methodology study investigates the degree to which dominant organization culture and cultural values influence a manager's willingness to differentiate employee performance for the purpose of making meaningful talent decisions. Data were collected from 26 companies and a total of 45 individual participants. The findings suggest that specific values play a significant role in influencing a manager's willingness to differentiate employee performance regardless of dominant culture. All organizations have high and low performers, yet being willing to make tough performance calls for greater talent decision effectiveness may require embodying values that are considered countercultural. This study examines which factors affect employees' job satisfaction and tests the relationship between overall job satisfaction and work performance (in-role/task performance). The research is based on a case study of the American University in Cairo (AUC). Correlational statistical tests were conducted initially to determine if there is a relationship between the overall job satisfaction and each of the job facets variables, second between the overall job satisfaction and work performance, and finally between the overall job satisfaction and the demographic variables. This study hypothesized that an individuals' cost and value perceptions of feedback-seeking were related to their goal orientation which further led to the preference for certain types of feedback. Comparing Conscientiousness And Neuroticism In Predicting Task Performance And Contextual Performance, Lu Qin

The primary aim of this proposal is to address the relationship of effort intensity to neuroticism in predicting task performance and compare conscientiousness and neuroticism in predicting task performance and contextual performance. Building on previous studies' results, Big Five personality factors were examined as correlates of job performance. A pilot survey was distributed to a total of 251 participants who were working at least 20 hours a week collected from five organizations in the Los Angeles area.

Research on Reduced Audit Quality Practices (RAQP) has consistently shown serious negative consequences in the auditing profession. It has found that under certain pressure levels, auditors tend to engage in RAQP. However, most of the previous studies that had investigated RAQP failed to examine RAQP from a stress model perspective which incorporates stressors, stress measures and stress consequences into the model and to measure the interactions among these constructs. Biographical data inventories (biodata) have one of the best predictors of job performance criteria for over 100 hundred years. Similarly, CommonFormat Biodata (CFB) inventories have also demonstrated their ability to predict certain performance criteria. There are two common themes and tow common sub-themes typically associated with CFB intruments, Education, experience, time, and specificity respectively. It is generally accepted that everyone puts off or delays doing tasks to some extent; however, little is known about how different styles affect job performance. A social analog of a short-delay conditioning paradigm in Pavlovian learning was used to test the prediction that under certain conditions, human causal judgments would reflect acquired response properties that can be either increased (augmented) or decreased (discounted). Personnel decisions have the potential to influence an entire organization. The effects of these decisions are more credible and relevant when quantified. Historically, benefits were defined in correlational statistics, i.e., validity coefficients. But the increasing demand is for a bottom-line or dollar-value definition. The utility concept presents a methodology for providing the dollar value impact on performance of a personnel intervention program. This study investigated the relationship between management style and the personality variable "locus of control" on subordinate job satisfaction among employees of a Communications Center for a large municipal law enforcement agency. Unlike many of the past studies that investigated the relationship between employee internality and job satisfaction, this current study found that Internals and Externals did not differ in general satisfaction when both had perceptions of high considerate supervisory behavior. It was also hypothesized that locus of control would have a high negative correlation with general satisfaction. This hypothesis was not supported. The last hypothesis of this study involved …

Performance standards encompass information characteristics which decay over time. Consequently, it is worthwhile to identify factors affecting information decay.
