The Development Of A Personnel Policy Handbook For Certified And Classified Employees In The School District Of Ralston, Richard J. Bonham

Student Work

The legal authority to provide a system of public education rests with the state; thus, the state constitution and legislative statutes authorizing school districts are sources of that district's power. It is, however, left to the voters of the local school district to elect the citizens who will govern the schools and determine policy within the parameters established by constitutional and legislative provisions. As an agency of the state, one of the school board's most important jobs is to see that the state's education laws and the rules and regulations of the state are implemented in the school district.

Employer's Financial Aid To Employees For Education: Are Some Educational Barriers Removed?, Jerome L. Greenberg

Student Work

"The aim of adult education, as I see it, is to inspire grown-ups to be something more than they are now and to do their work better than they do it. Its beginning is wherever one finds oneself. It ends only when ambition ceases to function. At its best, it leads to constantly increasing richness of life, better appreciation of what life offers, great satisfaction in the use of mind and body, and better understanding of the rights and duties of one's fellowman." (James E. Russell, 1978) The purpose of this field project was to assess the problems faced by …

An Investigation Of The Effect Of Intensive Clinical Instruction In Spelling Strategies On The Decoding Skills Of Reading Disabled Students, Deirdre Breathnach

Student Work

There appears to be a general agreement among educators that a close relationship exists between the skill of reading and the skill of spelling. Since both reading and spelling serve as major components of communication, parallels exist between factors necessary for success in spelling and reading (Chall, 1967; Wallace and Larsen, 1979). After observing methods employed by students in spelling unfamiliar words, Kottmeyer (1959) concluded that skills used in decoding words in reading are also used in attempts to spell correctly.

Pilot Implementation Of The Nebraska Reading Retrieval System At Norman Rockwell Elementary School, Bernard Vanis Apr 1983

Pilot Implementation Of The Nebraska Reading Retrieval System At Norman Rockwell Elementary School, Bernard Vanis

Student Work

There is a variety of different reading systems in use in the elementary schools today. The most commonly found systems are often organized into a basal reading series which many schools use as their major source of reading instruction. However, no matter how complete a basal series is, it can't be the answer for all of the students all of the time. To incorporate this area of weakness or needed review, teachers often use supplemental materials from a variety of sources. Some of the problems with gathering supplemental material are that of time to search, money to acquire, space to …

Evaluation Of The Avoha Title I Preschool, Dennis L. Johnson

Student Work

Funding for programs in local schools is being cut by all levels of government. Local schools are being told they have to get by on less money and to get more out of each dollar spent. School districts can become only so efficient, therefore, the question as to which programs will have to be eliminated must be answered. Apparently this situation will continue for some time, and studies must be done to determine which programs help the most children, along with the degree to which they are helping those children. In other words, which programs are really helping students develop …
