The Relationship Between Online Learning And Student Motivation And Engagement, Sarah Mieczkowski
The Relationship Between Online Learning And Student Motivation And Engagement, Sarah Mieczkowski
Honors Undergraduate Theses
The switch to online learning during the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic impacted the educational world in many ways. University students were moved from traditional in person classroom settings to an online format. This change may have been accompanied by stress, anxiety, and social isolation. Research suggests that a student’s learning environment can either generate success by contributing to motivational strategies through quality of educational support or a learning environment can generate boredom, stress, and confusion. In addition, research demonstrates that personality plays a factor in many outcomes such as education and mental health. There is a lack of research on connecting …
Multicolor Ramsey And List Ramsey Numbers For Double Stars, Jake Ruotolo
Multicolor Ramsey And List Ramsey Numbers For Double Stars, Jake Ruotolo
Honors Undergraduate Theses
The core idea of Ramsey theory is that complete disorder is impossible. Given a large structure, no matter how complex it is, we can always find a smaller substructure that has some sort of order. For a graph H, the k-color Ramsey number r(H; k) of H is the smallest integer n such that every k-edge-coloring of Kn contains a monochromatic copy of H. Despite active research for decades, very little is known about Ramsey numbers of graphs. This is especially true for r(H; k) when k is at least 3, also known as the multicolor Ramsey number of …
A Reflection On Modern Western Adolescent Transitional Care Of Patients With Chronic Conditions, Samuel Schepps
A Reflection On Modern Western Adolescent Transitional Care Of Patients With Chronic Conditions, Samuel Schepps
Honors Undergraduate Theses
Transitional care represents a critical juncture in the continuing care of patients with chronic conditions, particularly for adolescent patients. It also represents a significant point of failure in that process for adolescents, with many patients experiencing difficulties during the transition between adolescent and adult medicine that lead to negative long-term impact on health and wellbeing. This thesis aims at addressing adolescent transitional care processes and its obstacles through a broad medical humanities inquiry in a multidisciplinary dialogue between philosophy, social sciences, and medicine. The social, anthropological, and medical concepts of adolescence and autonomy were derived from a literature review and …
Transcinematheque: Defining Cinematic Language In The Trans New Wave, Mel Turnage
Transcinematheque: Defining Cinematic Language In The Trans New Wave, Mel Turnage
Honors Undergraduate Theses
This thesis aims to analyze the films of the Trans New Wave in order to define tropes and motifs of cinematic language and structure. The language of the filmmaking itself presents a different approach from mainstream transgender films, and this changes how certain imagery of transness is contextualized in a larger narrative. In particular, the films of the Trans New Wave operate in contrast to both historical trans films and modern prestige/studio films to deliver more realistic portrayals of trans peoples’ experiences and beliefs. This new language of the Trans New Wave serves to create a more accurate and profound …
The Importance Of Emotional And Physical Safety In The Success And Development Of Public Spaces, Isabella Wilhelm
The Importance Of Emotional And Physical Safety In The Success And Development Of Public Spaces, Isabella Wilhelm
Honors Undergraduate Theses
Our day-to-day lives consist of formal and informal settlements in the built environment. As humans, we gravitate towards successful informal settlements (public spaces) to conduct activities such as socializing and recharging. Previous research has highlighted the importance of distinct factors in determining the success of public spaces. Still, research has failed to develop the foundation that makes all public places prosper. Through examining successful and unsuccessful public places through case studies, this research analyses the success and importance of our emotional and physical safety in public spaces through the presence or absence of sound, light, nature, boundaries, and order.
