Library Faculty Publications
In this presentation I will address three questions:
1. Who is the visual learner, and are our students – i.e. students in design disciplines – visual learners

Media And Religion, Paul A. Soukup
Media And Religion, Paul A. Soukup
Communication
This survey will examine three broad strands of communication research on media and religion. First, it will review some emerging frameworks for studying media and religion and see how current scholars situate the topic. Second, it will look at how people have studied the relation of different media to religion, focusing on journalism (especially the coverage of religion), the entertainment media (both the content and the critique), and the information media (primarily the Internet). Finally, this survey will examine the Christian reflection on media, occurring in what some term Communication Theology (Plude 2001: 3).

Reproductive Health
The Institute for Behavioral Studies and Research completed an operations research project entitled “Among Youth” targeting adolescents in the Mokolo neighborhood of Yaoundé, Cameroon. The results presented in this report show that adolescents in Mokolo, more often than their counterparts in the control site, adopted behavioral changes to prevent STI/HIV transmission and unwanted pregnancies as a result of the intervention. The report concludes that peer education combined with mass media campaigns form an important strategy for targeting youth with reproductive health and family planning messages and can help adolescents translate knowledge into healthy lifestyles. Integration of reproductive health messages into …

How Extra-Copyright Protection Of Databases Can Be Constitutional, Justin Hughes
How Extra-Copyright Protection Of Databases Can Be Constitutional, Justin Hughes
Faculty Articles
Following the Supreme Court's 1991 Feist decision, intellectual property and Constitutional law scholars have debated whether extra-copyright protection of databases can be established by Congress under its Commerce Clause power. This article presents the problem as one of the gravitational zone of the Commerce Clause versus that of the Copyright and Patent Clause. The article reasons that the Supreme Court decisions in International News Service v. Associated Press, Zacchini v. Scripps-Howard, and the 19th century Trademark Cases all point to the possibility of limited protection of databases under the Commerce Clause. The Article also considers the constitutionality of extra-copyright protection …
