Purpose – The aim of this paper is to identify resources essential gerontology (aging studies) resources and liaison strategies that provide guidance for academic librarians working with faculty and students in this highly interdisciplinary field.

Design/methodology/approach – A convenience sample of gerontology faculty was surveyed to identify important materials, including preferred journals, databases, reference books, and sources of grey literature for gerontology research and teaching. Gerontology faculty information seeking behaviors, including faculty-librarian partnership, were also examined.

Findings – Results confirm that faculty teaching in gerontology use a wide variety of resources in their teaching and research. Faculty identified frequently used …

In a modern context of constrained resources and high demands, faculty exert agency to strategically navigate their careers (Baez 2000a; Neumann et al. 2006). Guided by the O’Meara et al. (2011) framework on agency in faculty professional lives, this study used Structural Equation Modeling to investigate which departmental factors (perceptions of tenure and promotion process, work-life climate, transparency, person-department fit, professional development resources, and collegiality) influenced faculty agentic perspective and agentic action. Results showed that faculty perceptions of certain departmental contexts do matter in faculty career agency, such as work-life climate, person-department fit, and professional development resources. Research on the experience of faculty of color in predominately White independent schools (PWIS)
is limited. This study explored faculty of varying racial backgrounds and their initiation of, interactions
with, and stress reactions to racial conflicts within the school settings using an online survey.
Several measures were developed according to the Racial/Ethnic Coping Appraisal and Socialization
Theory (recast) model and administered to 339 faculty participants. Using factor analytic and
correlational analyses, results from the highly reliable measures found that Black faculty show
significantly less trust in schools to manage racial conflict, lower sense of school membership,
