Apostles and Bishops in Early Christianity, by Hugh W. Nibley, edited by John F. Hall and John W. Welch, presents an edited, expanded version of Hugh Nib-ley’s verbatim lecture “notes” that he prepared for a course he taught in 1954. Extensive footnotes have been developed from Nibley’s cryptic source notations. In this course, Nibley explored the offices of apostle and bishop, the priesthood authority associated with them, and questions of succession in the early church and in Rome. Copublished with Deseret Book, it will appear as volume 15 in the Collected Works of Hugh Nibley. Available early 2005.

The most extensive collection of writings about the Book of Mormon published between 1829 and 1844 has been made available as an online database. The collection, 19th-Century Publications about the Book of Mormon (1829–1844), includes nearly 600 publications and close to one million words of text. It is intended to comprise, insofar as possible, everything published during Joseph Smith’s lifetime relating to the Book of Mormon. Under the auspices of Digital Collections at Brigham Young University’s Harold B. Lee Library, this ambitious project can be accessed at lib.byu.edu/dlib/bompublications.

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
In the 21st century, several investigations related to society have focused on studies of the Social Sciences. The problems that affect the population are reflected in issues of the rights of women, children, and adolescents. Several authors have reflected their support against domestic violence, femicide, labor exploitation, the evaluation and modification of laws. The present study with the use of exploratory analysis and neutrosophic statistics seeks to define the most debated issues in the Social Sciences and each person's life with society. It should be noted that segments of society such as indigenous people and mestizos are aggravated by discrimination …

During And Beyond A Pandemic: Publishing Learning And Teaching Research Through Covid-19, Joseph Crawford
Journal of University Teaching & Learning Practice
The novel coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has been a prevailing topic in contemporary higher education literature over the past year. The initial and emerging responses will be ongoing sources of critical reflection and future research. This commentary seeks to reflect on three types of manuscripts we are reviewing frequently within the Journal of University Teaching and Learning Practice, and those published elsewhere. Despite our best efforts, many publications overemphasize the present context without contextualising previous insights, or retain previous knowledge without application to contemporary practice. This commentary provides a brief review of manuscripts with pre-COVID-19 data, COVID-19-specific data, and future focused …

Addressing Academic Rejection: Recommendations For Reform, Kelly-Ann Allen, Gregory M. Donoghue, Saeed Pahlevansharif, Shane R. Jimerson Professor, John A.C. Hattie Professor
Journal of University Teaching & Learning Practice
The aim of this paper is to provide a number of reasoned and evidence-supported arguments and a list of recommendations for reducing the impact of academic rejection. A brief literature review examined the prevalence and negative impacts of academic rejection including its purported purposes, predictors, and consequences. Findings revealed that the topic of academic rejection is largely under-studied, with very few empirical investigations. The extant literature typically places the onus on the individual academic to deal with rejection. Few articles have recommended institutional changes to ameliorate the known mental health impacts of rejection. We propose that the discovery and dissemination …

About Improvement Of Support Of Innovative Activity Of Higher Education By The State, A.E. Norov
Irrigation and Melioration
This article provides information on regulatory acts in support of innovative activities in the field of higher education. It is also indicated that the fact that the scientific activities of universities are not organized based on the prospects for socio-economic development of regions, forecasting innovative development based on analysis and effectiveness of innovations, research results, commercialization of scientific developments, and the involvement of talented youth in research, is the reason for the lack of reliable integration of education, science and production. It is necessary to improve the internal system of competitions, programs and projects aimed at supporting the commercialization of …

Is Qualitative Research In Education Being Lost In Spain? Analysis And Reflections On The Problems Arising From Generating Knowledge Hegemonically, Manuel Fernández-Navas, Noelia Alcaraz-Salarirche, Laura Pérez-Granados, Ana Yara Postigo-Fuentes
The Qualitative Report
In this paper we reflect on how qualitative research in education in Spain has become invisible, by asking a series of questions. What are the effects of this? What are the keys to understand this marginalisation of qualitative research? What are the implications for researchers and students? What challenges does qualitative research face in order to overcome this lack of visibility? To discuss these issues, we present a series of structured reflections in the form of an essay based on the preliminary impressions that have emerged in the course of a broader investigation that we are conducting and that focuses …

On The Scientific-Critical Text Of "Kazazyinu-L-Maoniy", Namozova Zilola
Uzbekistan Journal of Oriental Studies
The study of the lyrical heritage of Alisher Navoi has always been an important issue. However, the study of the texts has been widespread in the last century. In particular, the textological study of the “Hazoyinu-l-Ma'ani” divan was initiated by Hamid Suleiman in the 20th century. The scientist conducted a great deal of research on the “Hazayinu-l-Ma'ani”, the first complete scientific toolkit. In the introductory part of the study, it was pointed out that this publication should be clarified in determining the factors that led to great discrimination and objections in the literature. The aim of the research is to …
The Role Of The Press, Neil Sheehan
The Role Of The Press, Neil Sheehan
Naval War College Review
The press has often been thought of as a potential partner for the common good of the Government, private industry, the military, and the other institutions of society. The author of this work feels, however, that the proper role of the press is that of a separate but equal protagonist—critical of both the institutions of our society and the youth culture that has developed beneath it.

The National Framework For Health And Wellness: (Re)Framing The Work Of Cooperative Extension For The Next Century, David Buys, Sonja Koukel
Journal of Human Sciences and Extension
Cooperative Extension is at a crossroads and has increasing opportunities to articulate its existing role and future growth in impacting the health and wellness of the individuals and communities it serves. This is important because the health outcomes in the U.S. are poorer than any other developed nation, health expenditures are high, challenges with navigating the health system are immense, and opportunities to intervene and remove barriers to improving the nation’s health and wellness abound. This article provides suggestions as a follow-up to the reports featured in this special issue of the Journal of Human Sciences and Extension from the …
Books Have The Power To Shape Public Policy, Barbara Mcquade
Books Have The Power To Shape Public Policy, Barbara Mcquade
Michigan Law Review
In our digital information age, news and ideas come at us constantly and from every direction—newspapers, cable television, podcasts, online media, and more. It can be difficult to keep up with the fleeting and ephemeral news of the day.
Books, on the other hand, provide a source of enduring ideas. Books contain the researched hypotheses, the well-developed theories, and the fully formed arguments that outlast the news and analysis of the moment, preserved for the ages on the written page, to be discussed, admired, criticized, or supplanted by generations to come.
And books about the law, like the ones reviewed …

A Bibliometric Analysis Of Peer-Reviewed Journal Publications By British Occupational Therapy Authors, Ted Brown, Yuh-Shan Ho, Sharon A. Gutman
The Open Journal of Occupational Therapy
Background: A bibliometric analysis was completed of the peer-reviewed literature from 1991 to 2015 written by British occupational therapy authors that was indexed in the Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCI-Expanded) or Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) databases.
Methods: “Occupational therapy” and “occupational therapist” were used as keywords to search journal articles’ publication title, abstract, author details, keywords, and KeyWords Plus. One of the authors had to be identified as a qualified occupational therapist with a British affiliation.
Results: From 1991 to 2015, 680 journal articles were published by British occupational therapy authors. The top three journals in which authors published …

Makara Journal of Science
Neuraminidase sensors have been developed using platinum (Pt) and platinum-modified boron-doped diamond (Pt-BDD) electrodes based on the difference of electrochemical responses of zanamivir in the absence and in presence of neuraminidase. Cyclic voltammetry of zanamivir showed that the presence of zanamivir decreases the oxidation-reduction peak currents of Pt. The responses were found to be linear in the zanamivir concentration range of 7.5-150 μM. Comparison between Pt-BDD and Pt bulk electrodes showed that Pt-BDD offers approximately two times higher sensitivity of zanamivir responses than Pt bulk. Further comparison to gold-based electrodes showed that Pt-based electrodes provided about one order higher sensitivity …

This bibliography is a comprehensive list of all of Professor Calvin Massey’s scholarship. Unless otherwise indicated, each title was written exclusively by Professor Massey. We have not, however, included every edition of each title; rather, where multiple editions were published, we reference only the first edition. We have also omitted supplements written by Professor Massey to his own casebooks.

Redefining “Peril”—Abating The Interest On A Tax Deficiency For Good Faith Reliance On Irs Publications, Brady Cox
Pepperdine Law Review
Many taxpayers rely on guidance materials the IRS provides in order to comprehend the United States Tax Code and pay an accurate tax. However, many, if not all, of these taxpayers would likely be startled to learn that their reliance on these IRS guidance materials is perilous. That is, that reliance upon these guidance materials will not support a taxpayer’s tax treatment decisions if the IRS decides that the decisions were incorrect under substantive law. However, because the courts have not decisively concluded which financial consequences a taxpayer faces or escapes by relying on informal IRS guidance, “peril” remains undefined. …

Foreword: Reflections On Our Founding, Guy-Uriel Charles, Luis Fuentes-Rohwer
Michigan Journal of Race and Law
Law Journals have been under heavy criticism for as long as we can remember. The criticisms come from all quarters, including judges, law professors, and even commentators at large. In an address at the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference almost a decade ago, for example, Chief Justice Roberts complained about the “disconnect between the academy and the profession.” More pointedly, he continued, “[p]ick up a copy of any law review that you see, and the first article is likely to be, you know, the influence of Immanuel Kant on evidentiary approaches in 18th Century Bulgaria, or something, which I’m sure was …

The Enduring Value Of Books Related To The Law: A Librarian's Perspective, Linda S. Maslow
Michigan Law Review
In the 1979 inaugural issue of the Michigan Law Review’s annual survey of books related to the law, Professor Cavers wrote an enthusiastic and hopeful introduction. He characterized the journal’s effort as a “bold innovation” that would benefit lawyers; law professors, both domestic and foreign; scholars in other disciplines, such as the social sciences; and the marketplace of ideas generally. As the annual survey approached its twentieth anniversary, Professor Schneider provided a fascinating, frank description of the Book Review issue’s origins during his tenure as the Michigan Law Review’s Editor- in-Chief. Happily, this annual Book Review issue continues to thrive. …
