This study investigated the relationship between faculty-student communication, student time management, student expectations, and quality of instruction and the level of student success in distance courses. The population of the study consisted of undergraduate students enrolled in Independent Study courses at Mountain State University (N = 1007) during the summer and fall 2001 terms. The sample consisted of 500 students randomly selected from the population. Participants completed the Distance Education Satisfaction Survey developed by the researcher. While there is evidence in the literature of herbal supplement education in other disciplines, inclusion in dental hygiene curricula is not reported. The purpose of this study was to assess the prevalence and extent of herbal supplement education in the 256 accredited dental hygiene programs in the United States. A survey was sent to program directors. Data analyses, including frequencies, cumulative frequencies, percentages, analyses of variance, and test of Chi Square were conducted using JMP program. Surveys revealed 63% of respondents (n = 160) included herbal supplement education and primarily incorporated it in the pharmacology course (67%). Statistically significant differences …

The purpose of this study was to examine the statistical relationship between co-curricular involvement of West Virginia college students and post-graduate involvement in community and professional organizations, leadership positions held within those organizations, professional salary, and self-perceived job satisfaction. A sample population of 400 college students (n = 400) from State-assisted colleges in West Virginia who completed baccalaureate requirements in 1990 was sent a copy of the West Virginia College and Community Involvement Survey and the Mohrman-Cooke-Mohrman Job Satisfaction Survey. The purpose of this study was to determine if NCAA Division I student athlete characteristics of graduation, presented in the literature and previous research, can be generalized to student athletes in the Mid-American Conference using research based conclusions developed from this study. The study identified seven characteristics prominent in the literature and made conclusions to ascertain if information provided on the characteristics, as presented in the literature, can be generalized to the Mid-American Conference. Assessing The Perceived Impact Of Computer-Assisted Instruction On Physical Therapy Education, Mia L. Erickson

Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) is becoming more common in allied health education. Research on CAI has provided mixed results. The purpose of this study was to compare uses of CAI in entry-level physical therapist (PT) and physical therapist assistant (PTA) programs. Secondary purposes included determining faculty attitudes toward CAI, determining how faculty select and evaluate CAI, and describing faculty perceptions of CAI and the computer-based licensing exam. Results indicate no significant differences in the amount of CAI in PT and PTA programs.
