The Effect Of Low Energy Electron And Uv/Vis Radiation Aging On The Electron Emission Properties And Breakdown Of Thin-Film Dielectrics, John R. Dennison, C. D. Thomson, Alec Sim
The Effect Of Low Energy Electron And Uv/Vis Radiation Aging On The Electron Emission Properties And Breakdown Of Thin-Film Dielectrics, John R. Dennison, C. D. Thomson, Alec Sim
All Physics Faculty Publications
Studies of secondary and backscattered electron yield curves of thin-film dielectrics have recently been made using pulsed, low current electron beam methods to minimize insulator charging. These capabilities have allowed us to investigate the evolution of surface and internal charge profiles as a function of low energy electron (keV) pulsed-electron fluence to determine how quickly insulators charge, and how this can affect subsequent electron emission properties. We have also studied critical incident electron energies that result in electrical breakdown of insulator materials and the effect of breakdown on subsequent emission, charging and conduction. The qualitative physics of such processes in …

Optimización Para El Normado, Planeamiento, Diseño Y Manejo Del Agua Subterránea, Richard C. Peralta
Optimización Para El Normado, Planeamiento, Diseño Y Manejo Del Agua Subterránea, Richard C. Peralta
Civil and Environmental Engineering Faculty Publications

Corporate Responsibility To Provide Work-Family Programs, Susan R. Madsen
Corporate Responsibility To Provide Work-Family Programs, Susan R. Madsen
Marketing and Strategy Faculty Publications
Defining and determining the responsibility of business organizations to provide and assist employees with work-family programs and initiatives (e.g., employee assistance programs, parental leave extensions, childcare, elder care benefits, flextime, compressed workweek, and telecommuting) is a current critical issue that has ignited controversy during the past few decades. The author argues that work-family programs (at some level) should be a part of every company and should be strongly linked to employer benefits. To expand and implement work-family programs and services in companies today,she argues that training and educating business leaders about work-family options and benefits is the bestsolution. This paper …

One of the most exciting prospects for the LISA gravitational wave observatory is the detection of gravitational radiation from the inspiral of a compact object into a supermassive black hole. The large inspiral parameter space and low amplitude of the signal make detection of these sources computationally challenging. We outline here a first-cut data analysis scheme that assumes realistic computational resources. In the context of this scheme, we estimate the signal-to-noise ratio that a source requires to pass our thresholds and be detected. Combining this with an estimate of the population of sources in the universe, we estimate the number …

Exclosures are flexible range management tools that can be used to simultaneously:
• Clarify conflicts between wild and domestic herbivores and their advocates;
• Evaluate herbivore influence on range productivity and composition;
• Monitor long-term trends and changes in range condition; and
• Identify the normal range of variation characteristic of natural plant communities.

An Earlier Lidar Observation Of A Noctilucent Cloud Above Logan, Utah (41.7°N), Joshua P. Herron, Vincent B. Wickwar

The Atmospheric Lidar Observatory (ALO) Rayleigh-scatter lidar has been operated for 11 years on the Utah State University (USU) campus (41.7o N 111.8o W). During the morning of 22 June 1995 a noctilucent cloud (NLC) was observed with the lidar well away from the twilight periods when NLCs are visible. It lasted for approximately one hour. This observation and a second in 1999 [Wickwar et al., 2002] are very significant because they show the penetration of NLCs equatorward of 50°, which may have important implications for global change. Temperature profiles calculated at hourly intervals were at least 20 …
