A Hybrid Unsupervised Clustering-Based Anomaly Detection Method, Guo Pu, Lijuan Wang, Jun Shen, Fang Dong

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part B

In recent years, machine learning-based cyber intrusion detection methods have gained increasing popularity. The number and complexity of new attacks continue to rise; therefore, effective and intelligent solutions are necessary. Unsupervised machine learning techniques are particularly appealing to intrusion detection systems since they can detect known and unknown types of attacks as well as zero-day attacks. In the current paper, we present an unsupervised anomaly detection method, which combines Sub-Space Clustering (SSC) and One Class Support Vector Machine (OCSVM) to detect attacks without any prior knowledge. The proposed approach is evaluated using the well-known NSL-KDD dataset. The experimental results demonstrate …

Origin Of Resistivity Anomaly In P-Type Leads Chalcogenide Multiphase Compounds, Sima Aminorroaya-Yamini, David R. G Mitchell, Heng Wang, Zachary M. Gibbs, Yanzhong Pei, S X. Dou, G. Jeffrey Snyder

Australian Institute for Innovative Materials - Papers

The electrical resistivity curves for binary phase compounds of p-type lead chalcogenide (PbTe)(0.9−x) (PbSe) 0.1 (PbS) x, (x = 0.15, 0.2, 0.25), which contain PbS-rich secondary phases, show different behaviour on heating and cooling between 500-700 K. This is contrast to single phase compounds which exhibit similar behaviour on heating and cooling. We correlate these anomalies in the electrical resistivities of multiphase compounds to the variation in phase composition at high temperatures. The inhomogeneous distribution of dopants between the matrix and secondary phase is found to be crucial in the electronic transport properties of the multiphase compounds. …

Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) ages from a relict shoreline on Lake Callabonna record a major pluvial episode in southern central Australia between 1050 ± 70 and 1100 ± 60 Common Era (CE), within the Medieval Climatic Anomaly (MCA). During this pluvial interval Lake Callabonna filled to 10–12 times the volume of the largest historical filling (1974) and reached maximum depths of 4–5 m, compared to the 0.5–1.0 m achieved today. Until now there has been no direct evidence for the MCA in the arid interior of Australia. A multi-proxy, analogue-based atmospheric circulation reconstruction indicates that the pluvial episode was associated …

Infrared Phonon Anomaly And Magnetic Excitations In Single-Crystal Cu3bi(Seo3)2o2cl, K H. Miller, P W. Stephens, C Martin, E Constable, R A. Lewis, H Berger, G L. Carr, D B. Tanner Jan 2012

Infrared Phonon Anomaly And Magnetic Excitations In Single-Crystal Cu3bi(Seo3)2o2cl, K H. Miller, P W. Stephens, C Martin, E Constable, R A. Lewis, H Berger, G L. Carr, D B. Tanner

nfrared reflection and transmission as a function of temperature have been measured on single crystals of Cu3Bi(SeO3)2O2Cl. The complex dielectric function and optical properties along all three principal axes of the orthorhombic cell were obtained via Kramers-Kronig analysis and by fits to a Drude-Lorentz model. Below 115 K, 16 additional modes [8(E∥â)+6(E∥b̂)+2(E∥ĉ)] appear in the phonon spectra; however, powder x-ray diffraction measurements do not detect a new structure at 85 K. Potential explanations for the new phonon modes are discussed. Transmission in the far infrared as a function of temperature has revealed …
