The New Jersey Estoppel Statute In Subdivision Control Administration, Leo M. Romero Jan 1968

The New Jersey Estoppel Statute In Subdivision Control Administration, Leo M. Romero

Faculty Scholarship

Subdivision control statutes allow a municipality to supervise the subdivision of land in the public interest. As part of the subdivision approval process, state enabling acts authorize municipalities to require the developer to install paved streets, drainage and sewage facilities, water supplies, and other improvements that are necessary to the development. While emphasizing the necessity of protecting the public by requiring these necessary improvements, courts and legislatures have neglected to give the developer the assurance of certainty that these requirements, once imposed, will not later be changed. This assurance is necessary, as the developer must be able to rely on …

The Preclassical Symphony With An Analysis Of Representative Works By Georg Christoph Wagenseil, Michael Thomas Roeder Jan 1968

The Preclassical Symphony With An Analysis Of Representative Works By Georg Christoph Wagenseil, Michael Thomas Roeder

Music ETDs

The symphony evolved from the Italian opera overture called the sinfonia. The earliest concert-symphonies were written in the 1730’s and 1740’s and exhibit the same formal traits as the opera sinfonias written at the same time. Both consisted of three movements in contrasting tempi: fast-slow-fast. Occasionally a minuet was substituted for the last movement and aby 1765 or 1770 the minuet became the third movement of the then standard four-movement plan: fast-slow-minuet-fast.

Some movements, particularly the first in these symphonies demonstrate the growth of sonata form from the binary form common in Baroque dance movements. By the 1750’s and 1760’s …

A Study Of The Relationship Between Anxiety And Achievement, Keiko Lendenmann Jan 1968

A Study Of The Relationship Between Anxiety And Achievement, Keiko Lendenmann

Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs

Anxiety interferes with the learning processes and it affects performance in test situations. Yet in today’s test-conscious society, achievement and IQ tests are being used increasingly to evaluate the student, without benefit of information on his anxiety level. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of anxiety on achievement.

The sample population was drawn from the fourth, fifth, and sixth graders of an elementary school in the suburbs of a medium-sized city in the Southwest.

The Lorge Thorndike, Level 3 (Form A) was used to obtain the IQ scores. The Science Research Associated, Type B, (Firms C …

The Soluble Antigens Of Pasturella Pestis, Loris William Hughes Jan 1968

The Soluble Antigens Of Pasturella Pestis, Loris William Hughes

Biology ETDs

The soluble antigens of a virulent, newly isolated strain of Pasteurella pestis were compared to the antigens of an avirulent, well-documented strain (A-1122). The virulent strain gave two immunogenic fractions when passed through a Sephadex G-200, superfine column. The avirulent strain gave four. All fractions from both strains had a common antigen. The method of Sephadex separation appeared to be an excellent means for the separation and purification of the soluble antigens of P. pestis.

A Study Of The Flora Of The Cochiti And Bland Canyons Of The Jemez Mountains., Chales W. Robertson Jan 1968

A Study Of The Flora Of The Cochiti And Bland Canyons Of The Jemez Mountains., Chales W. Robertson

Biology ETDs

Cochiti and Bland canyons are adjacent steep-walled canyons in the Jemez Mountains. The canyons range in elevation from 6,000-8,500 ft and open into the Rio Grande Valley. The former has permanent water, the latter does not. Cochiti Canyon is constricted at its mouth and widest near its head.

The Canadian, Transition and upper Sonoran life zones are represented in the study area. Due to the variety of exposures these zones seldom occur exclusively over large areas. The varied topography, volcanic outcroppings, disturbance by man, and water supply all contribute to the extreme diversity and variety of the flora. The flora …
