Investigation Of Serum Cu, Zn, Fe And Se Concentrations During Pregnancy (60, 100 And 150 Days) And After Parturition (45 Days) In Single And Twin Pregnant Sheep, Fuat Gürdoğan, Ati̇lla Yildiz, Engi̇n Balikçi Jan 2006

Investigation Of Serum Cu, Zn, Fe And Se Concentrations During Pregnancy (60, 100 And 150 Days) And After Parturition (45 Days) In Single And Twin Pregnant Sheep, Fuat Gürdoğan, Ati̇lla Yildiz, Engi̇n Balikçi

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was conducted to determine the serum Cu, Zn, Se and Fe concentrations at 60, 100, and 150 days of pregnancy and at 45 days of parturition in twin and single pregnant sheep. A total of 30 pregnant Akkaraman sheep in 2 groups (15 single pregnancies, 15 twin pregnancies), aged 3-5 years and weighing 40-50 kg were used. The blood samples were analyzed for serum Cu, Zn, Se and Fe concentrations. No statistically significant difference was found for Se, Cu, Fe and Zn concentrations between the twin and single pregnancy groups. Insignificant decreases (P > 0.05) in serum Zn and …

Attempted Synthesis Of 1-Cyclohepta-1,2-Dien-1-Ylbenzene And Wurtz-Like Condensation Products In The Reaction Of 1-(2,3-Dibromocyclohept-1-En-1-Yl)Benzene With Zinc, Mustafa Ceylan, Yakup Budak, M. Burcu Gürdere Jan 2006

Attempted Synthesis Of 1-Cyclohepta-1,2-Dien-1-Ylbenzene And Wurtz-Like Condensation Products In The Reaction Of 1-(2,3-Dibromocyclohept-1-En-1-Yl)Benzene With Zinc, Mustafa Ceylan, Yakup Budak, M. Burcu Gürdere

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

7,7-Dibromo-1-phenylbicyclo[4.1.0]heptane 4 was synthesized and its thermal and silver ion-catalyzed rearrangements were studied. Alcohol 8 was converted to 1-(2,3-dibromocyclohept-1-en-1-yl)benzene 6. The zinc-mediated elimination of 1-(2,3-dibromocyclohept-1-en-1-yl)benzene 6 resulted in the formation of 2 isomeric Wurtz-like condensation products 15 and 16 (whose structural assignments were based on ^1H-and ^{13}C-NMR spectral data) instead of the expected 1-cyclohepta-1,2-dien-1-ylbenzene 14.

Zinc Content In The Organs And Tissues Of Freshwater Fish From The Kardjali And Studen Kladenets Dam Lakes In Bulgaria, Iliana G. Velcheva Jan 2006

Zinc Content In The Organs And Tissues Of Freshwater Fish From The Kardjali And Studen Kladenets Dam Lakes In Bulgaria, Iliana G. Velcheva

Turkish Journal of Zoology

A study was conducted to estimate zinc loads in the organs and tissues of Alburnus alburnus, Cyprinus carpio and Perca fluviatilis inhabiting 2 dam lakes Kardjali and Studen Kladenets, located along the Arda river (South Bulgaria). The zinc content was determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry using a Perkin Elmer 380 B apparatus .The effect of the temporal factor was proved over a 3-year study. The highest zinc concentrations in fish organs and tissues were detected in summer and autumn. The highest zinc loads were found in the kidney and liver, and the lowest in the muscles of the 3 fish …

The Effect Of Zinc Deficiency On Zinc Status, Carbohydrate Metabolism And Progesterone Level In Pregnant Rats, Zine Kechrid, Sabrina Amamra, Noureddine Bouzerna Jan 2006

The Effect Of Zinc Deficiency On Zinc Status, Carbohydrate Metabolism And Progesterone Level In Pregnant Rats, Zine Kechrid, Sabrina Amamra, Noureddine Bouzerna

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Aim: Our aim was to investigate the effect of low dietary zinc intake in late gestation on zinc status, transaminases and alkaline phosphatase activities, carbohydrate metabolism and progesterone level in albino (Wistar) rats. Materials and Methods: Eight-week-old female pregnant and non-pregnant albino (Wistar) rats were fed with diets containing either adequate (54 mg/kg) or low zinc (1 mg/kg) quantities for 18 days. Food intakes and body weight gain were recorded regularly. On day 19, after an overnight fast, blood samples were collected and animals dissected. Femur, pancreas, placenta and fetuses were removed. Concentrations of glucose, cholesterol, and urea; transaminases and …
