Effects Of Management Support, Team Member Support, And Job Status On Safety Climate And Employee Attitudes, Bernadette M. Racicot, Mary C. Kernan, Edward D. Nichols

Organization Management Journal

This study examined the impact of management and team member support on employee attitudes through the mediating effect of safety climate. Five hundred fifty-six physicians and nurses from a large teaching hospital in the eastern United States completed survey items assessing their perceptions of management support, team member support, and safety climate as well as job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Results indicated that while job satisfaction and commitment were directly affected by perceptions of management and team member support, these relationships were also partially mediated by safety climate. This paper explores established research concerning the influence of media portrayals of mental illness and its treatment on stigma, helpseeking behavior, and viewer awareness from a social work perspective. The purpose of this paper is to examine the validity and generalizability of the existing literature regarding the effects of the presence of themes of mental illlness in television and movies. Concerning the social work profession, there is discussion regarding the role that media portrayals of mental illness can have on clients’ expectations for treatment and willingness to seek help. Identifying Factors That Influence The Continuing Education Choices Of Municipal Police Officers, Sean O'Connor

This study was conducted in an attempt to identify factors that influence the continuing education choices of municipal police officers. By examining factors such as tuition reimbursement, educational incentive pay, CEO education level, higher education standards for promotion and hiring, rank, and length of service, policy recommendations can be made to positively impact education levels among municipal police officers. In phase one of analysis, levels of organizational education were presented along with each variable’s presence in each department. Understanding High School English Learners’ Chronic Absenteeism, Patricia A. George

Chronic absenteeism has significant implications for both the individual student and society at large and has been receiving attention for over a century. Every school day counts. Regular attendance provides students with opportunities to learn and has a strong link to achievement. Conversely, poor attendance has serious implications for high school students. For each subgroup of students there is a similar pattern: the likelihood of chronic absenteeism increases as students progress through high school. Notably, the U.S. Department of Education found English learners experience higher chronic absenteeism than their non-English learner peers when they reach high school. Furthermore, compared to …
