Nanotechnologies: Small Science, Big Potential, And Bigger Issues, Michele L. Mekel
Michele L Mekel
Ethical, legal, and social implications must be taken into account when considering environmental, health, and safety issues, as well as the constitution of human nature. The hyperbole related to emerging technologies must be broken down around the marketing of nanotechnologies in order to discuss, much more candidly, pressing ethical and legal risks.
Advertisements Misrepresentation And Remedies, Narsimha Rao A.V
Advertisements Misrepresentation And Remedies, Narsimha Rao A.V
Dr. A.V Narsimha Rao
Advertisements, with their effective designs and statements, influence people in their decision-making. With the exaggerated information, advertisments mislead and dissatisfy the consumer, who in turn becomes a bad advertiser. Due to this, the advertisers face embarrassing situations and pay a heavy price for their mistake. So it is essential to formulate a policy for advertising and make sure they work within the legal framework and in accordance with the codes created for the purpose of maintaining advertisement standards.

Casablanca: Judgment And Dynamic Enclaves In Law And Cinema, Shulamit Almog, Amnon Reichman
Casablanca: Judgment And Dynamic Enclaves In Law And Cinema, Shulamit Almog, Amnon Reichman
Shulamit Almog
By interpreting the narrative and imagery of the film Casablanca, this article seeks to explore the concept of law as enclave. An enclaves is a domain-physical, virtual-emotional, conceptual, social or other-defined by certain boundaries and rules of entrance and exit. We argue that Casablanca is about constructing and reconstructing such enclaves. The structure of a pending journey between enclaves organizes the events taking place in Casablanca and constitutes their dynamic nature. Enclaves, we argue, are central to the structure and operation of the law. Recognizing the enclitic nature of law allows us a better grasp of the ethical dimensions of …
Media Advisers - Shadow Players In Political Communication, Richard Phillipps
Media Advisers - Shadow Players In Political Communication, Richard Phillipps
Richard Phillipps
Extract:Synopsis:It is a commonplace in political communication that the news media mediate wider political realities to their audiences. The extent to which that news content is itself mediated by others is a more ambiguous and problematic area. Perhaps because it is rarely directly visible to the public, the work of media advisers or press secretaries has become the subject of much speculation, with sweeping claims about their power. This thesis systematically explores the role of media advisers, a backroom group sometimes labelled spin-doctors or minders. Until now, this pivotal group in democratic political communication has not been the focus of …

Adr, The Judiciary, & Justice: Coming To Terms With The Alternatives, Erin Ryan
Erin Ryan
[This student note is the closing chapter of the Harvard Law Review “Developments in the Law” issue for the year 2000, devoted to developments in civil litigation.] Any discussion of recent developments in civil litigation must address the virtual revolution that has taken place regarding alternative dispute resolution (ADR). Attorneys have witnessed a steady growth in their clients' recourse to ADR in place of lawsuits, and ADR is increasingly incorporated into the litigation process by the judiciary itself—in the form of court-annexed arbitration, mediation, summary jury trials, early neutral evaluation, and judicial settlement conferences. “Alternative” models of dispute resolution have …
Woman-As-Symbol: Intersections Of Indian Nationalism, Gender, And Identity, Shakuntala Rao
Woman-As-Symbol: Intersections Of Indian Nationalism, Gender, And Identity, Shakuntala Rao
Shakuntala Rao
The purpose of this article is to explore the connection between Indian nationalism and gender identity. I provide a critique of Radhakrishnan and Chatterjee's notion of the outer/inner dichotomy of Indian nationalism by stating that religion, in postcolonial India, has emerged as a discursive totality that has subsumed the politics of indigenous or inner identity more so than other rhetoric of caste, tribal, gender, and class. I provide a groundwork for this debate via the writings of Nehru and Gandhi. I conclude, through an analysis of the practices of amniocentesis and Sati, that women and their bodies have been used …
